Without warning, as well - simply out of the blue, almost as if it were a temper tantrum response. Basically as I understand it, because one person had a negative rep thanks to a single detractor (the bot itself of all things - something that itself is not something I approve of), and another person with a very strong rep decided to give provisional trust to that person. A third person, who frequently rants about the wot in the first place, ranted some more and I guess the seals deals owner(s) got tired of it.

Meanwhile people who were trusting this system and storing chips on it got left without their chips. Oh, the sign says its temporary - I hope so.

I'm one of the lucky ones - I only have about 40, maybe 50 in chips on "credit" with their bot. There are people with hundreds of chips stored in credit.

Looking to get back into online poker but I'm in the US. Are there any HUDs or data collection software that will work with this site?

Got FPDB up and running in SWC. Sweet! I never liked playing cash w/o a hud so I'd been doing more tournaments than cash - now that will change.

Hows the overall level of play on SWC? How is it comparable to other US sites, specifically Bovada?

Also are there any rakeback deals for SWC?

Like any site, all depends on time of day and game.

No rakeback. Have to earn whats called krill, start at 0% rakeback, can work your way up to 50% rakeback 10 years down the line.

+1 I've really fallen in love with this site over the year I've been playing. Yes the lobby chat is full of scammers/racists/convicts etc. but there is a culture on this site probably unlike any other. It's kind of fun to be a part of sometimes. Cash games are great lately, tourneys have gotten way better, krillrolls are great etc. ty micon!

Good point. Could you say how NL10 or NL25 would compare to other US sites? Are they very fishy, packed with tight regs, have lots of loose maniacs, etc?

If you can't and/or have no reference point to other US sites I understand, just figured I would ask before depositing.

I've never played those levels so can't specifically comment on those. The PLO games can be very loose, the NL100+ 9 handed games are generally good, the 6max games can be stacked with solid regs many times.

Never played Bovada but fairly similar to the old FTP or Stars games.

I didn't notice any issues recently.I suggest to email support if the issues continue.

I nearly came here in December/January to warn others against using Gox, but figured there was no way I was the only one to run in to problems and that word had likely already spread.
Do we know if Seals was holding a lot of their (i.e. players' coins) in Gox. If that is the case, is Seals almost broke as well? How can we know Seals will make good on all payments if their (players') BTC were being held at Gox?

...I doubt they had any holdings on Gox. Why would they?

"Do you segregate player funds?
Yes, player funds are never used for operating expenses. Players’ Bitcoins are held in several wallets of varying accessibility for security reasons."

MtGox was an exchange not a storage facility. As Seals sends and receives only btc they have no reason to use MtGox for players funds. Also they were well aware of the problems at MtGox for a long time and I can't see how Seals would use them for any reason.

This brings up lesson for those holding btc. Do not keep them with a third party. I would recommend an Electrum wallet. There is no need to download the blockchain or make backups. What you need to do is keep the 12 word "seed" that is generated with your wallet in a safe place. With this seed you can recreate your wallet even if your computer is completely destroyed. I keep a copy of my seed in a safety deposit box. I also keep copies with 2 people that I can trust with my life. If I die the btc will go to them.

You don't need to keep any btc on Seals to play as you can move btc easily. Even with what I have said I do keep some of my roll on Seals that I don't withdraw. In my opinion they have earned that trust.

Of course they were not holding any bitcoins in gox. If you had read their policy of cold storage for most of the coins you would not ask such silly questions.
They never exchange the BTC for $$. You deposit, play and withdraw BTC. Why on earth would they use an exchange as gox?

"Micon noted that the storage system for Bitcoins in play on the site is actualy separate from the player passwords and account, meaning that those Bitcoins were safe all along. ”It is worth noting that player funds were never at risk,” said Micon, “as we have a cold storage solution that does not interact with our ‘hot wallet’ system."

I want/need to learn more about btc security. Til now I didn't have enough to mind leaving the $ on swc but now I'd rather withdraw daily profits and keep a minimum bankroll on site.

Is it OK to download the electrum wallet to my Android phone or should it be on a computer? Doubt this matters but I have coinbase and swc on both devices but 2F authentication for both apps on my phone.

So I should use Electrum either way, and keep the seed pw in cold storage on a 3rd party device? Do you need the seed pw with every transaction involving electrum? Ideally I'd have 2 USB drives with electrum backups and encrypted email, username, pws for btc and the apps. Just not sure how to make this happen.

It runs on android but I have no experience as my phone is 10 years old. I suggest checking Electrum's site.

Coinbase seems trustworthy but they are probably going to listen to the government. Not an issue currently but....

The seed is only used if you have to recreate your wallet for whatever reason. The wallet will have a password that is needed in order to send btc from your wallet. PW is not needed to receive.

Storing your seed is not the same as cold storage. If you delete your wallet and have the seed I guess it effectively is.

Something stored digitally does not mean it is stored forever. The info can get corrupted. I wrote my seed and password on paper. My pw is memorized along with a dozen others for various things. If I took the effort I could could memorize the seed but I won't as it's something I will rarely use.

Hopefully this will help guide you as you learn from those that know better than I.

Very smart BTC user ITT

Electrum seeds are a very useful way to store your BTC yourself without relying on a third party

CarbonWallet is another seed-based deterministic wallet that exists only for that session in your browser.

No reason to hold coins with a third party if you do some reading and understand the properly wield the power now in your hands.
