They dont need to use a fraction of the money they made to fight Uncle Sam.
As proof. Have you been playing at Stars and Tilt lately? I have. Look at where your opponents are from. More and more are from different places around the world outside of the US(especially South America and Asia). Why do you think Pokerstars has the Latin America Poker tour and Asia Poker Tour? For fun? No!! They are trying to market(with Huge success) to those parts of the world.
I have really noticed a change in the past 1.5-2 years. PStars occsionally peaks at over 200,000 players now, where 1.5 years ago that was probably around 140,000. Tilt used to be about 65,000 and now appear to be approaching 100,000 peak.
If most U.S. players leave(most being fish) because its too hard to deposit without pulling a miracle out of our a**es, they will still make good money with the new players.
|
just a guess but maybe 25 - 30 percent of p stars business is US based with Tilt's higher than that.
obviously they could survive without the US. but it would be a pretty big hit to their revenues and they would have to change their business (get rid of some employees etc.)
so obviously they are going to do what they can to keep the business

You still have the ability to take some action.
You can support the PPA (Poker Player's Alliance) http://pokerplayersalliance.org/
Quote:
Mission Statement
The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) is a non-profit membership organization comprised of online and offline poker players. Our membership consists of enthusiasts from around the United States who have joined together to speak with one voice to promote the game and protect the right to play poker in all its forms.
The PPA’s mission is to establish favorable laws that provide poker players with a secure, safe and regulated place to play. Through education and awareness the PPA will keep this game of skill, one of America’s oldest recreational activities, free from egregious government intervention and misguided laws.
The Threat Is Real
Even as public support for poker grows and interest in the game expands through televised celebrity matches and other events, several states and localities are making changes to laws that encroach on poker players’ abilities to play online, at home, in bars or taverns, and even at charity events across the country. Moreover, some at the federal level have dedicated themselves to putting an end to interactive poker. Last year, in the dark of night, Congress passed legislation which seeks to keep you from playing poker over the Internet. This misguided law can be curtailed, and the PPA is working right now with Congress to establish new laws that clarify the legal status of poker and establish licensed and regulated Internet poker in the U.S.
The PPA understands that over-zealous, big government policies start out as seemingly small, insignificant steps. But if left unchallenged, such policies would guarantee that poker players from Bakersfield, California to Bangor, Maine, would be at risk of losing their freedom to play poker.
|
And maybe win a seat in the WSOP
Quote:
|
For a very limited time the PPA is offering both poker players who renew their PPA Premium memberships and new PPA Premium members a shot at winning a Main Event Seat in this year’s World Series of Poker. That’s right, for a $20 membership you can win a $10,000.00 seat in poker’s most prestigious event.

You could:
send an email to your Reps in DC
and to the President
I'm just saying that you don't just have to sit around and see what happens.

Re: EChecks unavailable at pokerstars
I just read an article saying how one payment processor owes Stars/FTP/AP/UB about $30 million total. It could be that they're the ones writing the checks and they're broke.

Re: EChecks unavailable at pokerstars
Sigh, I was going to trade Carbon for Stars to get my money more quickly. Maybe I'll just get a check from them and wait 6 mirrion years.
Anyway, enough with the chicken little act it is annoying yes but if anyone can get everything straightened out it's stars.

Re: EChecks unavailable at pokerstars
Funny how online poker is illegal in the US but it isn't illegal for broadcasters to advertise it, as long as it's 'Play for Free'.

They can only advertise the .net site without the threat of Government intervention. The feds seized money some networks took from poker site ads a few years back so the parties involved came up with the .net solution. As long as they dont have real money gambling on the .net site, they can advertise. THey advertise the .com site, the feds will come after the networks

Re: Pokerstars echeck deposit option?
Well, I dont think they will be back. There is something drastically wrong. I had a check issued on behalf Pokerstars that has been dishonored by my bank.
Anybody has any idea what is going on?

Re: EChecks unavailable at pokerstars
i made an echeck cashout request on 5/30 and it was approved the same day. this is in the time period of the bad checks and i'm wondering what is going to happen to my money and how long until i have it back into my stars or bank account. it hasn't hit yet and normally echeck withdraws from stars hit in a day or 2. thanks

Some processors are down. It happens fairly often thanks to processors having to dance around UIGEA.

I am in the same situation as you. Someone else in this thread emailed support and they said that that the echeck withdrawal would be unaffected (prob unsure and buying time imo). Nothing we can really do until the 10 business days go by which will be next Friday.
