Cons for increasing rake
- reduced volume by all grinders (70% of cash game seats)
- reduced tables/player =far less games running at all times
- mass raking weaker regs leave the industry
- bumhunting more prevalent = fish being chased and broken faster
- loyal stars regs now playing multi site
- full tilt arguably with the best software in the industry will be coming back and fighting for market share. stars doing anything but increasing player loyalty would be a mistake imo. The FT ownership will have gone through hell and back to get the site up and running. it seems fairly obvious theyre going to do whatever it takes and fight very hard for as much market share as possible. building a player base and supplying fish is the key. full tilt always had a good supply of fish. if FT can grab the guys who got screwed in points 3 & 5 thats a great start.

I would prefer it stays on Dealt for a combination of all the reasons people have said really.

Re: Poll: PokerStars 2012 VIP Changes - Keep Dealt System or Change It?
I'd be in favour of a change to WC if it included an increase in the VPP table multiplier or some other balancing method. Micro stakes LHE is full of nits who rely on rakeback and it's unfair someone with a 16% VPIP gets the same rewards as me with a 32% VPIP. Simply changing to WC hands more VPP's to fish with no FPP multiplier so the total rewards paid out by Stars decreases... increasing the table VPP multiplier balances this at least a little and will still punish nits who just want to fold their way to rakeback.

Stars will never change to WC. Better chance of them lowering the rake cap than switching to WC.

CHANGES TO THE CALCULATION OF AFFILIATE REVENUE SHARE COMMISSION FOR 2012
On January 1, 2012, we will be changing the way we calculate revenue share for affiliates. When calculating revenue for commission purposes, instead of rake being split between all players dealt into the hand, rake will now be calculated based on the players who contribute to the pot. This has been updated in the Terms and Conditions, which you can review at: https://www.pokerstarspartners.com/p...onditions.html

In affiliate email. Contributed it is.
Really, really poor decision btw. Stars being better run than every other poker site had to stop at some point. Nice cash grab.

^ Very disappointing. Lol at telling affiliates first before players.

also lol at steve's post splitting hairs on the difference between raising the rake and decreasing rakeback.

Can they do it this way for affiliates but leave it shared for the players? Is that a stupid question??

+1. I really hope there are extra changes to offset this, because if I do move away from CAP games (rake so high 90% of earnings come from RB, then they mess with that too?) to SnGs or full stack games, I just can't see staying at stars over a softer euro site.

No, no it's not obvious.
Numerous sites have swapped to weighted contributed, not a single one has shown any meaningful improvement in game quality. Actually the game quality on all the sites has actually deteriorated through time after changing to weighted contributed. Here's a very pertinent article related to weighted contributed: http://pokerfuse.com/features/editor...lly-pays-rake/

Very nice article, and especially the last 3 paragraphs.

+1 I wanted to stay with stars for the software and support. I made a short term move after black friday until things settled down and found the games soft.
Planning a massive year volume wise, hopefully still at stars unless these changes have a big impact on vpps/rakeback

From the Partners T&C:
1.1 [Definitions]
Ring Game Gross Revenue
shall mean the sum total of a Qualified Poker Player's contributions to Rakes in a Ring Game Hand while playing on software downloadable from the Site(s). Any Qualified Poker Player's contribution to a Rake shall be determined by dividing the total amount that a Qualified Poker Player has contributed to the Pot in any Ring Game Hand by the size of the Pot in that Ring Game Hand and multiplying it by the total Rake taken from that Pot in that Ring Game Hand regardless of the number of players dealt in such Ring Game Hand.
