Maybe its different in the States but here its waaaay better value getting gift cards for all electronics I have ever looked up. Also if you have more points the $1000 gift card is even better value.
Yes definitely true, I've never really understood this. Maybe in europe with much higher taxes it becomes closer between the gift card and geting the item right from the store.
To be fair, you get the blu-ray player delivered and without taxes. Where I live in Canada tax is 12%, sometimes even more on some electronics (e.g. computer monitors have a "recycling fee" you also have to pay). But it still doesn't make up for the huge difference.
I've got the futureshop gift card before, it does take a
long time to come because it's ordered from some 3rd party. I think mine took at least a month to arrive.
If anyone from stars is reading, I'd really prefer a gift card for other technology stores like NCIX.com or newegg.ca, which offer much better selection on things like laptops and computer monitors.
I am a supernova and use concierge, but the limitation is that it's minimum $500 US so smaller purchases like PS3 or external HD or smaller tech things don't work unless you buy them all together.
