Pokerstars tax on winnings? Pokerstars tax on winnings?

Hey all

Just went to withdraw from PS, and the amount they want to credit to my bank account is 5% less than the amount of dollers I would get if I deposited the same amount into my account. I emailed them about it, they said it was due to the different buying and selling prices of dollers, but this seems bullocks to me. When I deposit it is not a non sterling transaction so they have UK accounts. And I assume that they pay me from UK accounts to?

I seriously doubt any currency exchange happens so this is just a paper exercise to take 5% from us?

I have noticed on other sites like party poker your finds are held in your local currency and exchanged when you buy into the table and then exchanged back when you leave at the same rate.

So I guess what I am saying is why the hell would I play on PS with such a huge rake? And how do they get away with it?

Why do they even play in dollers? Could use magical golden poker pennis for all the difference it would make!

Are there any other sites that offer 8 game ?

I am not keen on playing rake on hands and then rake on winnings

Kind regards

Yes, if you cash out from your USD wallet they take a conversion fee. Make a GBP wallet in your Stars account and make sure you're on that tab when depositing/withdrawing. Then convert to/from USD within the cashier, no fees that way.

They deliberately make it hard to avoid fees to catch out anyone unaware, recreational players won't notice a few % missing and it's free cash for Stars.
