I could be way off here, but I truly believe the information gained from it is of limited usefulness against any competent opponents who will vary their play based on tables conditions anyway. Do people really think that if they had tons of hands on the top players they could beat them? If so, I think you are being extremely naive, because these players will adapt to you much better than you can to them, even given the extra info you may have.
The danger of datamining is not that someone will have a lot of your hand histories and beat you with their help. I think the real danger is that
1. some ******ed people begin to humiliate fish having looked at their long-run losses - the result is less fish.
2. a lot of fish dont track their results, but when a poor player sees his name in the column of biggest loosers it may lead to "online poker is rigged, I will play online nomore" - the result is less fish.
3. some players are kings of tableselection - they play only with loosers. So if you waited some time and finally sat at the table some brave players may look at your results and run away. This can piss you off.
So I dont mind opponents having my stats. You are right - I can vary my style. And the ability to change the style is one of main traits of good players.
But when the winning and losses of a ton of players can be easily found on a tracking site - it pisses me off.
So, Pokerstars, please tell me when you make impossible for dataminers to track all games on your site.
