I know that your point about some satellites not running is correct, but I think there is plenty of interest in EPT to keep them going - if they changed the rules they might need to reduce the number of tournaments a bit. In terms of Stars marketing.
Clearly Stars should allow someone who plays two overlapping satellites to take cash on the second if they win two tickets, but I don't see the logic in allowing these "fake" satellites. I have now given up - the first couple I entered were good value, but they are now just lost causes for me.
There is a definite difference between EPT's and the regional events...UKIPT, Estrellas etc. Satellites. The EPT's would have enough players to run.. and enough to hit their guarantee if players couldn't win additional seats. The regional tours don't have this same luxury as often these tourneys start with the min amount of players as I mentioned in yesterdays UKIPT Nottingham example.
What Pokerstars needs to do is sell the experience factor of their Live Events so more recs will try to play for them. The experience should be almost the same between EPT's and the Regional tours and the entry fee is the only difference.
Has anyone ever received an email saying that such and such pro will be in attendance for a regional event (the one in that players region)?
Has their ever been an email to that target player with a Link showing video footage of the welcome party or fun activities?
Only this past year has Stars improved themselves greatly in cross-marketing their tours... but there is so much more that can be done.
POY- There's a Player of the Year award for everything... why not one for all of Stars' tours? The concept would work where the players points must come from at least 5 (number irrelevant for now) different Stars tours.
BPOY- Breakout Player of the Year
This follows the same concept of above but it's confined to players that have played fewer then x amount of Stars sponsored live events. This players points would be tabulated from his top 3 finishes from only 3 tours.
This type of promo would get talented players (both serious and recreational) to venture out to new tours and the numbers would grow.
