The point I was making is you can't expect say a $10 reward for completing the challenge as then they would making a net loss of $8-9 each time. It's only realistic that they give rewards that are lower than however much they charge as rake ($1-2). You can't expect them to make promos which lose them money. At the same time, I wouldn't recommend a non-sports bettor to suddenly take part in sports betting just for the promotion.

Edit: Thanks Loki you're right, I forgot to convert to pounds. That makes it look worse for sure, although I don't know what the exact odds are and how much the house makes on average per sports bet so mine was just a rough estimation.

Good point and I think I get the jist of what you're saying. It seems they are going for a different market and different types of betting to regular betting sites. Also I doubt there would be any betting sites that run loss-making promos all the time. In moderation I'm sure they could be good to attract new customers but too frequently and it could become too much of a loss for the business. I don't really know enough about Betstars so I can only really speculate on what I've heard or seen. But I've seen other sites like Coral Betting have decent promotions on sometimes but definitely not all the time. That, said this promotion does look particularly low value even by Stars standards.

Guess PS going back on a promise wouldn't be unprecedented, unfortunately

Gosh, have been breaking my back trying to reach the 5th step of StarsCoins (with the extra big payout) before the promo ended and the tables got harder ... sigh ....

Kind of have mixed feelings about hearing this might be getting extended:

Pros
- get to keep working on improving at the cash tables, without having to stop because tables got way too hard for me ... not that they're easy right now ...
- at least there's a promo

Cons
- these cards hunts are dull and repetitive
- prizes aren't great
- what happened to the quarterly DNegs $1mil freeroll?

PS really needs to do some solid promos for SNG players.

Don’t think this warrants a new thread yet but it will probably get lost here so if someone could tell me who could I PM from the Stars staff to look into the matter.

Long version, tl;dr at the end:

I had a security token linked to my FTP account, read in the NVG merge thread that someone got a replacement bonus code for a new one, he has pasted an email that looked very legit, also FTP Michael J has actually written something regarding this matter and this probably isn’t his post I initially read meaning there are more. I link both those posts below.



Knowing this I wrote to FTP support and ask them (July 1st). I get a fast response that my email has been forwarded to the security team, no response since then. Quite honestly, at that point I wasn’t really expecting much, had they told me that I wasn’t eligible for the offer, for whatever reason, I would find that response compelling enough. I try again on 4th of July with same result, meaning no response whatsoever, except the standard “your email has been forwarded thank you for your patience”.

This is one case. Meanwhile I notice that I got a Mega Bonus offer, which I seem to have pretty much missed. I obviously feel bad about it since everyone loves free money you can splash at the tables. I write to support and they are quick to tell me that I am still fully eligible for the Mega Bonus offer on FTP for all 4 deposits.

Now, I admit this is a part where I might be at fault but if anything it is a sign that the system isn’t yet completely fool-proof, as it probably should. I have actually made my first deposit with the code using the Stars software, it went through. I waited a bit for the bonus message to show up while playing few spins, it never did. I logged in the next day and noticed in my transaction history that I have in fact received a 15$ transfer (from Stars obviously). A week has passed and I made another deposit, this time making sure I used FTP software, it also went through, which is important since if you use a wrong code it won’t let you deposit. The deposit was made almost 4 days ago but I never received any bonus money this time, I just got the tournament ticket confirming the bonus but it has since expired. Honestly, I am not sure if using different software even mattered, I am just writing this to be completely transparent, I actually have the bonus eligibility message in both softwares.

Obviously I ask support about that and kindly remind again about my token inquiry. I get another quick response that my email has been forwarded, followed up by another thank you for your patience email after a few hours. It’s been 3 days since that and I have yet to get any kind of response.

I mean no ill will towards anyone from support in particular but I think it is obvious at this point that there are some communication problems. The first line support is quick to respond but their role seems to be limited to either copy-paste some FAQ text or forwarding your inquiry further. While my problems might not be completely trivial they sure shouldn’t require weeks to answer, at least in my opinion. I understand we have a weekend now, which might matter, but at this point they gave me actually no reason to think I will ever get any kind of response.

So there’s that. Now I feel like a beggar asking for some freebies. The thing is I would have never asked for any of this had I not been given some reasons to think I was eligible for either the bonus or a token replacement. I am really exhausted bouncing off support and aside from posting here don’t really know what else to do.

Cliffs:

• FTP and Stars merged, had security token linked to FTP, read on 2+2 that someone got a free replacement

• asked support, they don’t respond, first mail on the matter sent July 1st

• meanwhile got mega bonus, second deposit goes through no reward received though

• asked support about the bonus and token (third email), still no response

I just got the response regarding the bonus and honestly I am not sure whether I posted this prematurely or it is a direct result of it. Either way well played Stars/FTP, I really feel stupid now, even though I don’t find anything wrong with my post.

Pyramid promotion extended might seem like a good thing to a naive person, but really it just means that instead of coming up with a new promotion idea to replace the Pyramid they're just dragging this promo out across another month. These Pyramid/Cardhunt types of promos have been going on for far too long and are getting repetitive and boring. We need more tournament promotions!

I don't think they can really get away with canning the $1M freerolls though, it would just get rid of any credibility they still have and probably chase away a lot of players. At the same time it wouldn't surprise me if they chose not to follow through on their promise.

I don't know this guy Pocket Ducks but I don't see what point you're trying to make. I did no 180 degree turn as I was never supporting what Stars is doing. The "risk £25 for $0.21 EV" is misleading in the way OP worded it, as really you only lose an average of about £1 not £25. But that still doesn't make it a great promotion, just a lesser evil and I never said it was good.

After all the promises at the end of 2015 this is the worst year for promos by far. They used to do a New Years reload which cost them more than the entire 2016 promo budget. Disappointing, even with low expectations going in.

Still have some of the details in my old blog - guess after completing a challenge, we'd get a ticket to use to try and predict the winner of the day's World Cup match ... and then there'd be a shootout for the people who made the right guess? And then it was kind of neat, because people could either pick the favourite, but then there'd be more people in the shootout ... or they could take a chance on the long-shot, and hope to have a better chance of winning a larger prize?
