Hi - there was an error in setting up the configuration for this promotion for today; this has now been fixed and as most of you see, the display is correct. However, as a result, some players saw the option to opt in to three challenges (as shown in post 166). If you did that, you will see the erroneous progress bar while if you never saw it that way, you won't. There is no actual challenge today so the progress bar has no actual meaning.

Apologies for the mistake and any confusion caused.

So what does it mean? Today is only milestone cash game challenge?

Looking at the promotions of recent times (golden SNGs, milestone hands, spins, all in freerolls etc), why even bother being a poker site at all?

Thanks HostJacob for clearing up the confusion.

I think the phase tourneys that are being run as part of the PCA promotion are great value and it seems very popular.

The idea that I can play a satellite with no rebuys and only 3 phases for $2.20 and play at a headline event is great.

More of these for EPT, UKIPT and other stops please Pokerstars

As an "older" loosing player with family, a house and stuff, who deposites like 150-300€ each month and plays for fun i can only say this:

Amaya was smart and recordnize the potential of this market since it became aware for the whole world since blackfriday. They bought Stars, bought Fulltilt, will slowly shout down fulltilt and now have a monopole on the complete market and the by far biggest share of it.

The will not care anymore about players and give good rakeback and stuff, the just dont need it. there is nowhere a online pro or reg can go and find games running, and they use this power to make even more money.

i work in economics, i see this happen on many diffrent markets and its simply normal.
People can cry about this all day, they just dont need to care anymore, people and the by far largest number are people who are playin the smale stakes and loosing will not care and dont even recordnize the changes happen that much.
Pokerstars does not make money out of people like islidur or ben86 and others, they make money out of the large portion of players like me and younger people who might not be able to actually afford it.

It will be like in any other buisness who has to give a report to his shareholders, squeeze it big time for a few years and then may sell it or just let it be bought back by original owers.

Do i mind? Not really, this is capitalisim at its finest.

You are all fools if u really thing u can make big time changes here. A few years ago, u could done it, now its way to late since u can only choose between quitting or goin on, and for the most people who are doin this since many years - playing - they keep on playing.

thats my 5cents to it
(sorry for my english, thats not my nativ language)

Is there no Christmas Calendar event today? I just logged on and the only thing that is displayed when I open my challenges is a message saying "Come back tomorrow to reveal a new exciting offer! (Expires Dec 3 23:59 (In 3 h 5 min)".

When I click on the gift box with the giant question mark the pop-up says the same thing, "Come back tomorrow to open your next Christmas Calendar Door!"

There was one but it's already happened now, it was the $11k PCA package awarded to 9 players on the Big $11. Should have jumped in sooner! Not to worry, wait 3 hours and a new christmas advent calendar treat will pop up

Then I guess I didn't miss much. I can't afford the Big $11, and I would have been working at the time anyways. Guess I'll check back tomorrow night.

That's too passive/weak-tight of a play. I would "raise it" instead to 40 mins from now.

So today's promo was the special freerolls every half hour. Just binked one of them not long ago! After patiently waiting for hands and playing solid for 3 hours (with the help of some push/fold charts I found), I ended up coming 112th in a field of roughly 10k! Totally chuffed about it cos i never even play tournaments! Received a $1 reward.

The Xmas calendar idea is good but the individual promos aren't. Yesterday was freerolls worth a couple of cents, today every cash player is entered into a 20k shootout (optimistically worth $0.50 maybe?). I get that the days of $400 bonuses are gone but the rewards could at least be a couple of $, are cents really going to motivate a rec to play more?

I don't like the direction Stars is going but today's Christmas Calendar promo is a good one. Today's promo is a share of $20K if you win a hand by bluffing on the river in a cash game. This should generate some action where otherwise there wouldn't be. I think the previous poster might be confused about what the requirements are. If he isn't and thinks this is a bad idea I disagree.

I like the concept of the river bluff challenge, it'll encourage recs (and some regs) to bluff the river more than they normally would and regs to make more hero calls than they normally would, basically making the river a more exciting and action-packed street in general for 24 hours.

I do agree that the prize pool today is lower than usual, but this will be compensated by bigger prizes on other days. The mega bonus on Dec 2 will have awarded well over $100k in prizes for instance, probably more than $200k. The prize pools will vary from day to day, but I'm enjoying the overall promo so far.

Well I don't think recs in general are too interested in the estimated EV of a promotion, in fact some of them may not even understand EV. Those tourney freerolls yesterday attracted 30k fields consistently to a prize pool of $1k, equating to roughly 3c in EV per person. Recs clearly weren't put off by this though, as is evident by the huge fields in the freerolls.

Is the promo not actually the chance to win a share of $20k in a innovative, never done before, all in shootout?

So, you can bluff off a relative **** load for your few cents equity.

I don't like the directions stars is heading, and this does nothing to change that, it is still a ****ty and moronic promo.

christmas promo sucks. why giving 24K in freeroll to players that are not even able to make a first deposit ? why making these cheap freeroll grinder people happy ?

i hate the ''give free cents value to everyone'' promo thing. i prefer ''give free big chunk of money to players that play more'' like few months ago they gave up to 10 entry every time you win a hand with 49s during that week. so at the end fun players got 1 or 2 entry and regs were able to get 10 entries.

All promos have been good so far except the 1k freerolls

Tasks like bluff on river, win with 72, AA, KK are great, more like this please. (Like once you had Zoom Accumulator freeroll - please have that promo in future also)

The task-based challenges could be good, however when the prize is a shootout ticket even the "winners" lose the majority of the time. I've entered almost every all-in shootout since they started doing them and have won a grand total of $14. Maybe the top prize in a shootout is attractive to a rec at first, after a few months though it's hard to see it still having any appeal. You don't have to understand the EV of a promotion to see that you never get anything out of it.
