Why do we need these reports? Steve and Stars have posted what they had to say and they are now done with this thread and the April 2013 meeting as a whole.

These 'meetings' are a joke, they aren't meetings at all, at least not in the traditional sense where Stars and players might sit down and discuss things, with input from both sides effecting the outcome of decisions.

Instead each 'meeting' is essentially just a glorified opportunity for Stars to basically tell the player base what they are going to do over the next quarter. All the real meetings take place a few months before, behind closed doors at Stars HQ on the Isle of Man, where they plan and discuss amongst themselves what the next steps are.

I'm bored with these player 'meetings' now.

To overcome the affect of the rake on losing players there has to be a way for them to have the opportunity to concentrate their money. That path has to be clear to them and it has to provide them an opportunity at an amount of money that on an economic level is more valuable because it has been concentrated.

PokerStars has eliminated almost any chance that a player starting with a small amount of money could turn it into a much larger amount of money unless they were to take risks that would make their activity irresponsible.

What ends up happening is that there is no hope or fun on PokerStars for losing players. People want a chance at winning an amount of money that will improve their lives. But they might not have 7-13 hours available to try to win a tournament and so the distance to that prize is pretty far away for most players.

The best way to do it would be to use the Steps system. You guys have pretty much ruined the steps system. When it first came out it was pretty awesome. The best time was when you were giving away all of those seats to the WSOP.

I would add something like this:

Step 1: 1cent entry 100 players pays 1.00 for first hyper turbo winner takes all
Step 2: 1.00 100 players hyper turbo pays 100 dollars for first
Step 3: 100 dollars hyper turbo pays 10,000 for first

I think you would get a lot of games going using that concept. If you really wanted to do it the right way you could add a Step 4 that paid 1,000,000 for first. It would be 4 levels to a million dollars. That's exciting to people and if conditions are right they could win a million dollars in a day.

Now you might say to yourself that you don't want to give away a million dollars like that because it takes money off the site. But I think it's important for PokerStars to stop confusing INCENTIVE and REVENUE.

That's the one thing that made PartyPoker an exciting site to play on. They understood that if you give people the type of incentives that they want that their revenue will go up. Even if on paper it looks like they are losing money by paying concentrated sums of money.

How exactly is a super crapshot structure going to provide more fun and value?

Not only that... what do u think a rec player would do the second he wins 10k? He'd cash it out in a second and therefore this idea does not benefit the poker economy in any way.

Guess that's why there are so many threads in NVG about fish who ship the sunday million and then go play 5ks

It makes NVG because it's news and not the norm. I agree it does occur, but not often enough to make it profitable for Stars nor would it on avg. increase play at low-mid stakes. Just my opinion but it's likely shared by Stars since tourney formats like that aren't too common.

How many recs do you know who would take 10k winnings and risk it all for 1M?

Those step 4's would rarely run

Ok so, only ever saw reports from 1 player rep. Where are the rest of them? Should I just give up on the whole thing?

Don't worry there will be another publicity stunt meeting at the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory soon enough.

They just have to give the players enough time to forget that it is, "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me."

I believe in the software improvement thread a rep said it was in the final stages of testing and if all went well it would roll out either this month or next month.
