Re: PokerStars Multi-Currency Changes - January 27th 2010

let me get this right...
  • when i switch my BR now one time there is no fee right?
  • when i enable both buttons in the multi currency thing i can go to tables and leave them without a fee (just the 1cent thing)
  • when somebody shipps me money in a other currency it will be exchanged i my master currency without a fee?
  • what that thing with the $3k per day?
can i only sit down and leave at 15 NL100 tables per day? because of the two times switching
    that would kinda suck....

i hope u can help me out
thank you guys

Re: PokerStars Multi-Currency Changes - January 27th 2010

Maybe this helps a bit:

can I just buy in easily into $ games without having to pay

any conversion fees whatsoever and when I leave the table it'll convert

back to Euro without any fees again?

Right.

Somebody, who has his whole roll in Euro, mentioned on Twoplustwo that

everytime he sits in at a Dollartable and leaves with the exact same amount

he loses 0,01 Euro. Can you explain that to me please?

What was reported on 2+2 is possible because the exchange

rates change regularly throughout the day. It also could be rounding; I can't

be sure without looking at the situation. It's possible that the exchange rate

changes while you're seated, and you would get a different exchange rate

when you leave the table than when you joined. It could be more or less.

But likely it's just rounding off, since amounts only go to two decimal places.

It's certainly not something that we are doing intentionally.

Does the 3K limit only affect the exchange between two currency accounts

or does it also involve the joining and leaving of tables in other currencies?

The €3000 limit is on transfers between your held account

balances. It has nothing to do with buying into and leaving tables. If you

decide to leave your account balance in EUR and choose EUR as your

Preferred Currency, you should never approach that limit. It's only when

money makes it into your USD account for some reason, and you decide to

change it to EUR. Or make other inter-currency exchanges.

The cashout exchange rate does only influence the cashout when there is an

exchange made, right? So if I cashout Euro from my Euroaccount there will

be no fees correct?

Yes, if you cash out in EUR from your EUR balance, you will

not be charged a margin.

Re: PokerStars Multi-Currency Changes - January 27th 2010

thanks Pstars Alex for answering some questions.

i have another one regarding what is considered abuse and what isnt.

lets say i switch my main currency (and do all cashing in or out) to euros. i then receive a huge player transfer in dollars. huge as in not needed to play my games.
i then play for a bit to clear that transfer for cashing out (15% of the transfered amount in VPP iirc). i then change this money to euros and cash it out.

is this considered taking advantage and would i be charge 1% on the dollar/euro transaction?

When enter and a table in $ and dont play any hand and leave lose 0,01€. I play 24 tables session, go lose 0,24€/session. Thank you Stars for stealing my money with Multi-Currency. Now need to move back all bankroll to $ again and go lose more money.

Re: PokerStars Multi-Currency Changes - January 27th 2010

I'm a bit simple and just want to clarify.

I'll click the two boxes in Options > Multi Currency Options

Thus, my bankroll will be in CAD$ and I can play my normal ring games in USD$ where my CAD is just converted and then converted back when I leave (no fees).

So essentially I'm eliminating currency value risk (other than during the time I'm sitting at a table) and just having CAD$ sitting in my poker stars account.

Basically, I will never have to pay fees as described?

How could Stars be losing if they let players cash out at the same rate that they bought in for?

Footnotes of what Scott said:

1. You can switch currency up to 3k or even higher if you get it increased if you're doing it to play poker in good faith and not for currency speculation.

2. Currencys will automatically switch for you if you don't want to do it in the cashier when you go to a tournament or table and it will give you the mid market rate AT THAT TIME for your native currency. Because the market changes constantly you might lose or gain depending. The amount you lost or gain will be insignificant in most cases.

yes that is correct. I am switching all my USD into CAD. Obv you'll hate yourself if the exchange rate goes back to like 1.30, but it's not likely..

Re: PokerStars Multi-Currency Changes - January 27th 2010

Question re:Bonuses:

Lets say you have your whole roll in Euros and have it as your preferred currency, if you buy a bonus of some kind (i.e the $1500 bonus) what happened when it gets cleared?

1. would your account be credited with $1500?
2. Would the $1500 convert to Euros automatically?
3. If #2 is the case, would the exchange rate be the rate exactly when its cleared or maybe (doubtfully) when it was purchased?

Thanks.

This is fantastic news stars, this appears to be a very well implemented system. And thanks to those (microbet et al) who helped in getting pokerstars to chnage their stance on exchange vig.

I can understand the 3k limit, but it would make sense to waive this in the case when you select the "I want to transfer all my funds to this currency.

I thought this too, but if you tick both the boxes about automnatically converting currency to your base currency (when you join and leave tables) and then join tables with $ thats over the currency limit then when you leave the table its automatically converted to your base currency irrespective of what your daily limit is. Converted my whole balance to £ today using this method which is above my supposedly daily limit, and much more logical to be able to do this in one go.
