Guys who weren't here pre-Stars, there is no point in getting angry.

There was a time before Stars, where lots of different sites competed. It was wild westish, but it wasn't a bad time.

Then there was the time of Stars, when they actually cared, became the gold standard, and became pretty much the default option.

Now we are moving to the time after Stars, where they will re-join the pack.

Just let it be, move your money off the site, and start learning the new way.

But more importantly it's the message this change is sending to the players : we are here to make the most money possible in the shortest time possible.
THAT is a very bad sign.
Well there is this, so that might stop me from making 2.5% any day:

The use of the Currency Exchange Facility and/or User's account to engage in currency trading or speculation is strictly prohibited. To help maintain the integrity of the Currency Exchange facility, PokerStars has the right to, in its sole discretion:

OP says "Pokerstars has made some changes", what date was the fee applied? Have we been getting charged on previous transactions without knowing about it?

Thats roughly a ~2.55% fee.

Then withdrew it and received AUD$855.62.

That's roughly a 5% fee!

You're a ****ing disgrace, Amaya/Stars.
Create an AUD account in the pokerstars cashier and you will not get any fees

If you think about, ps is not a bank but looking at the debt for the acquisition 60% of ps is on banks hand so they may have some say about thier business...
They are just optimizing profits until they can, I suppose the dollar value is not helping at all and customers/players will pay for it too.

Actually they seem to also charge on exchanging internally, but it seems a lot less than the currency exchange scam.

I also swapped 100 USD to € and back and ended up with 99,98 USD. So thats basically a cost of 20cents/1k.

So you would be well advised if you cash in either USD if you have the chance to, or cash in in your local currency, then exchange interally to play USD games and then exchange it back internally to your home currency to cash out.

This isn't possible, is it? Only options I see under "Add New Currency" are GBP and CAD.

Roundings worked against you there twice, imo.

Losing $25 every $1000 withdrawal I make. Good Job Amaya!

10% rake(mtt) + 30.9% tax + 2.5% margin + 2.25 % fx fees from ewallet + 1% bank charges = 46.65 % of poker winnings not mine

Unless I'm missing something, seems like there won't be any change for most.

Just badly worded OP made it look like the end of the world, imo.
Apparently you also now lose to rounding every single time you exchange currency, sit down a table, leave a table, or purchase anything in a different currency than your own.

Also, every single non .com/.eu account is now essentially hit with a 2.5% withdrawal fee.

Well, think about it. You lost 2 cents doing 2 transfers where the sum is possibly rounded up or down to the nearest cent

I withdrew about 75% of my balance this morning. Stars has definitely fallen behind Skrill and some of the big iPoker skins in ranking where I feel secure about my money the most, and PartyPoker is gaining fast.

Until it's possible to change $ in e.g € it won't affect a lot of players directly. The sad thing is that Stars/Amaya has shown his real face.

Every player who has not the opportunity to cash-out in €,GBP or CAD has a big disadvantage, but as long as the majority doesn't feel the impact nothing will happen.

It's the same with changes in the HU-Lobby or SNG-Formats, as long as only a small group is attacked they can't build up enough pressure to make Stars rethink their decisions.

We should unite now, because in the near future changes will be made which gonna hurt your very game format, currency or VIP Status and everybody will be losing on the long run.

Let's find some possible answers to this policy

Can we all have a big hearty laugh and speculation about how Amaya would have handled the FTP buyout?

Well then convert some money to all the currencies you're gonna play with. Then it will only cost one cent max

Have you tested/confirmed that the rounding up or down at a table always works in PS favor?
