It needs to be easier to achieve Supernova, otherwise a ton of people will not even try after these changes

JUST WHAT EVERYONE WANTED THANKS A LOT STEVE...

If pokerstars thinks the grinders are just gonna let this go then they are so wrong. If we've been screwed hard bring on mass sit outs
lol yeah all 300 SNE's can sitout of the games. What a difference that will make.

1. I am assuming that Stars will keep the rule "no flop no rake", is this correct?

2. Seems there is no minimum rake now (or on other words, the minimum rake is $0.01). Is this correct too?

The point (2.) would me for example that a hand with a pot of $9 at a stake where the minimum rake was $1 and ence would play $0 in rake will pay now $0.72 (3% rake in this case, or other % whatever applies there).

Now the delay makes a lot of sense.... especially in the SNE thread. Basically if you play the exact same in 2012 as you did in 2011 you will get a lot less back

BIG change is right as in big **** in the *** for 95% players, but a nice gentle kiss for the loose players

Ring game players will be affected differently by this change depending on their play style. Some [VERY FEW] players will earn VPPs faster while others [THE VAST MAJORITY] will earn them more slowly. The total number of VPPs given out as a result of each hand is the same using the ‘weighted contributed’ and ‘dealt’ calculations BUT THIS IS DECEIVING AS IT ACTUALLY MAKES US, POKERSTARS, A LOT MORE MONEY.

While each player is different, overall the weighted contributed method will reward players with lower VIP statuses [A LITTLE BIT] more and players with higher VIP statuses [FAR, FAR] less. In summary this change will make the distribution of VIP Club benefits more balanced, less top heavy toward Supernova+ VIPs, AND A SHLTLOAD MORE CASH FOR POKERSTARS.
Good summary. Also effective rake increase for 6max guys by increasing rake cap with 5 players at the table (from 2$ to 3$) which according to my db are 26% of all hands isn't commented on.

Reading this on the on the go but at first glance it looks very good for most. Yes, it will be harder to collect VPPs (and reach SNE) with weighted contribution but the significant rake reduction should offset this even at SSNL for everyone except the nits. Also not sure Stars is actually making any more money as a direct result of this but it might make the games healthier and the reward programme fairer

Solid post Xela as that's exactly the way I see it.

Steve - your company's handling of this has been utterly abysmal. I realise that Stars basically is online poker right now, but this move (which appears to benefit low volume players a little, is bad news for high volume players and is awesome if you are a shareholder in Pokerstars) will be remembered. Your company has worked very hard to earn the status of the best in the market, and you then deliver this (cracking timing on the 28th December)? I guess you have crunched the numbers and think it'll work out in the end.

With any luck GBT poker will get going in the new year and this cynical money grab will cost Stars a large amount of market share and a fortune in profits.

To those at Pokerstars that made this decision, may you spend the rest of your lives with the taste of my sweaty balls in your mouth.

I'm sorry Steve, you seem like a nice guy. But you and your people have to be ****ing ******ed to post something like this. I was planning on giving PS 100% of my play but now I just can't justify it. Thanks.

So basically, Stars is money grabbing and didn't really do **** to offset that. Thanks for stealing our rakeback stars.

Ya Xela this is a rake increase if anything. 4.5% instead of 5% doesn't mean **** since it isn't incremental anymore and the cap is still $3.

Even worse, they just stole 20-40% of winning players' rakeback.

Oh and 5 handed games now $3 cap instead of $2.

SWEET DEAL YO!

tbh, I'm okay with the games getting potentially better if it costs me a tiny bit of rakeback, cause geuss what thats not where all my profits come from.

Honestly if you are a 4-tabler at SSNL that isn't playing 15/13 - 18/16 this isn't gonna hurt you AS much as everyone makes it seem. The money is mainly moving from the nits and shortstackers to the site. In exchange for potentially better games cause believe me Fish WILL understand that they are in more pots and pay more rake and they WILL realise this helps them.

I'll be looking at my VPP/hand in the first week of 2012 and will be highly surprised if it changes alot.

Were you around and playing on other sites that did this?

It helps not at all with game quality and rapes pretty much everyone but the site who pockets a ton of money.
