Pokerstars bot free ? Pokerstars bot free ?

Just moved over to PS this week thinking it was totally bot free, but i was surprised to see these guys nearly everytime i was on a table, day or night.
Seriously, 3.8 million hands in just over a year and a botscore of 88 ?

http://www.pokertableratings.com/sta...rch/wen_jun589
and

1.8 million hands in just under a year

http://www.pokertableratings.com/sta...-search/manyee

Playing aorund 18k hands per 12 hr session and losing a bundle but their FPPs must be huge.
How many do you think they would have playing that amount of hands ?

lol ppl are getting bots confused with good players and wondering why bad players have timing tells at micros but no they have to be bots

Last edited by IamPro; 10-31-2010 at 12:44 PM. Reason: hell PS might have bots but if they do, they have the least of any poker site

Stars has really been looking like the worst site if you want to avoid bots. I mean come on at the guys in OP's post. They play 10-15 hours a day, every day and $0.10/$0.25, never with a single break. And Stars of course won't do jack about it until Poker Table Ratings or some other major site runs an article about them again.

The problem is their VIP system and high rake at the microstakes. It means ratholing bots who play super tight and get close to breaking even can make an absolute killing. The first bot in OP's post has put in 3.6million hands at $0.10/$0.25 and lost $2500 on the tables. But likely made $15k+ in rakeback.

It would be naive to suggest PS or any other site has no bots but I think it's fair to say that Pokerstars certainly actively try and prevent them more than any other site. Using any publically available bot on Pokerstars would be foolish and they have the best anti-bot prevention of any site afaik so I can't imagine why any botter would put theirs on pokerstars when there are other sites including Full Tilt Poker which up until a month ago allowed the most publically available bot to play on its site for 2+ years. Obviously no site will publically say they don't mind bots but you have to get that impression from sites and pokerstars certainly wouldn't be one of them. The question is whether it is incompetence or indifference, the bots pay them a lot of rake and unless it is widely achknowledged there is a bot problem on a site there is no real drawback.

Just look at rs03rs03. On paper he has to be a bot but they even got a guy out to his house to watch him play.

And I think everybody already realizes this, but some people in the comments on PTR did not.

Bots like this are NOT good for the games. They are NOT losing players. At $25 wen_jun589 is 'down' $2400, but more accurate is that he is up $24,000 and has paid $26,000 in rake. In the end he has taken $24,000 or nearly 1,000 buyins out of the games. Just because Stars then takes large amount of that from him doesn't change the fact its money out of the poker economy thanks to him.

Here is the link for anyone else, if you never heard of this.

Too funny, but cool that they suspected him, and came out to observe.

FTP would have probably just froze his account and told him they didnt want his business and who knows what else. All in the interest of " Fair and Fun " of course ;P

No I didnt, but will now.

What I did was google his player name and came across an article about him, and then it also had the link to the 2p2 thread which I just read the initial entry.

Thanks for clearing that up. Like I said, I just heard about this guy and the situation about twenty minutes ago....I will go read more.

I just skimmed the original post and I thought PS was satisfied that he was playing, but I didnt read on to see others commenting on his quality of play dropping off....I am off to read more now.

Hmmm...I just saw BoBo and some others after that post talking about how great it was that PS went out there and took this measure of precaution.

I didnt see anything else really, but I need to take off here for now. I will come back later and see if I can find anything more.

Nobody has ever denied Stars has much better customer service. And nobody has ever said Stars has anything short of excellent bot detection capability when they choose to utilize it. And that's the problem. Lately everything has been slipping through the cracks at Stars. The double or nothing colluders, the recent bot ring that was busted, the limit colluders, everything. Those weren't stopped by Stars. Those were all stopped by players (and in the case of the bots - PokerTableRatings) who had to bend Stars arms a million times over to get them to finally do something about them.

Much like in this case. These individuals are quite obviously botting and Stars could certainly prove it if they really desired to do so. But they don't seem to have that desire much anymore. They'll just keep collecting rake until there's enough of an outcry when eventually they'll get around to banning them. And these are only the obvious botters. There are certainly hundreds if not thousands of others who aren't dumb enough to put in 4million hands playing 10-17 hours a day every single day on a single account. But unfortunately we'll never know about those bots and they'll certainly never be banned by Stars at least not until Stars changes its recent attitude towards bots.

That is a shame then as well. Their number one priority should be providing a fair gaming environment and taking EVERY STEP possible to maintain the integrity of the game.

I have always been of the opinion though that if you are going to play online, it should be at FTP or PS...I will always feel more secure there than some of the smaller sites that are out there.

The thought that the sites do not care so much as long as they are getting their rake and that they will not go out of their way to take action, until a large percentage of the player pool start to take notice/action or complain, is very sick to even think about, although I am not doubting this claim, it seems plausible for sure.

Sad.

basically they will spit in the face of their customers until it starts flying back into their own faces.

For sure, and thats exactly what FTP did recently with regards to the whole bot farm that they were enjoying the rake from for over 2 years. They changed thier rake system & then banned them all the day before the take 2 promo starts. Same thing i guess, i just didnt expect that from PS.

Is it even possible to play 4 million hand a year ? and nobody answered my original question...lol
How many FPP's would they have ?

I find it a little hard to believe that the majority of people that put in that type of volume aren't botters. Now, I realize that there really are some people who are real; that play tons and tons of hands with no interest in ever improving, just satisfied to be getting enough rakeback to cover their losses + some, but I would have to say the majority of accounts putting in this kind of volume are bots

2 million hands in 8 months is what... 4-5 hours a day?

Granted, I don't play 24 tables, but some people do. I'll be honest, I get a twitch any time I DON'T play for at least four hours in a day.

Looking at those players, it seems a bit odd that they're superpassive and go to showdown much more than other people. Looks to me like they are nits who basically play a very very tight range and take it to showdown every time. You could train a monkey to do that in three minutes. If you funded a small group of Chinamen, you wouldn't need a bot.
