Re: Pokerstars will lose its biggest player base July 1

Hello,

I am german citizen and I am 99,99% sure that nothing will happen on the first of July. Actually its great for us players because we can just continue to play without crazy rake as the French and Italian Players now have.
I followed the development in our country with great interest and the bottom line is: poker in the internet stays illegal, and they do nothing against it.
So as others said: Please change the title as I first almost got a heart attack.

Im a German 180man and mtt Reg. I have followed all the "Will poker be banned in germany ****" till the middle of 2010, and i can tell you with a 90% Chance that online poker is not going to be banned in the next 2 years. The difference to the us is that generally not a single politican gives a searious **** about online poker.

So how do you come to that conclusion. How can stars ignore the new legal situation if and when the new law goes into effect?

The new law going into effect means nothing because it is against EU law. Schleswig Holstein was actually the only state government that tried to create a law in accordance with the EU law and get profit through the licenses at the same time. But they actually lost their last elections a few weeks ago and the other parties follow the exact opposite approach.

As far as assuming that as of exactly July 1st 2012 anything at all will happen ... nice try but no chance. We heard that story so many times already Online poker has been a gray area in Germany for years already, did we ever get banned?

Sure the law is against EU law we believe. However EU has not done anything against it and was not disproved and as far as i understand will now get ratified by all states and go into effect.

That would change the landscape dramatically.

Am I wrong?

So you want to get rid of the people who are in your opinion the biggest calling stations?

You must destroy the games.

Where exactly are you taking this assumption from? It was not Schleswig Holstein before who disagreed with the ratification ...

Why would all the laender agree to the law and then not ratify it. As far as i understand that is in progress. All the news i have read say that there seems to be now an agreement for all states including SWH to ratify this law.

That would end online poker in Germany. There seem to be people that seem to think that stars and others will ignore the law but I would disagree. Grey area and illigal is quite different.

I have not seen any reason to believe the new law is not going to happen. What am i missing?

They don't care in lots of other countries, haven't cared in the US after UIGEA and haven't cared in Germany until now, though it's clearly illegal right now. Stars isn't dumb, they know perfectly well, that real money poker already is illegal in Germany.

So please give us only one reason why they would care just now?

So I think that is not so. Right no there is no law in effect. And before i blieve there have been court ruling describing the legal so difficult that it cannot be ruled against online poker thus making it effectively legal (impossible to do anything against it)

with the new law it is clearly illegal as far as i understand.

Stars has also always stated that they are not gonna do illegal stuff. they also withdrew from US states after the legal situation became clear there. (i.e. WA)
