So I am in an awkward situation, and need advice.

(backstory) I got the new MacBook Pro for Christmas, which was about $2000. I love my iPhone and it has served me very well, so after my kinda crappy experience with an ASUS PC, I decided to move to Mac.
It's a beautiful machine, but it's not as well optimised for many things (i.e. Equilab doesn't work). I was considering starting to play online poker on it, but apparently that is restricted too. Also, it crashed multiple times, and they had to do a $500 (in-warranty) repair on it after a few months. Though it seems to work fine now.

(now) So, all in all, I'm not too pleased with Mac. I complained to the manager at the store, and she said she'd give me a full refund if I wanted, though I'd have to decide in 2 weeks (1 week from now!).

Ultimately, my question relating to poker is, should I get the refund and spend the money on a PC? Or is playing poker fine on a Mac too?

Any suggestions are highly appreciated

macs are terrible for online poker. both for the site clients themselves and all the third party programs are going to have much less issues on a windows pc. cant game on a mac either, macs pretty useless in general unless you do art design or just want to look cool. there are laptop companys making mac level of build quality windows based pcs these days, they are also expensive like a mac though.

Certainly if you want to take the game seriously you absolutely will need a PC.
My opinion may be biased as I believe no one should ever buy a Mac. Over-priced and limited functionality.

As a heavy Mac-User/Professional, theres is one reason not to buy a Mac, if you play online Poker.

Imho the hardware is still good, and the overpriced thing is not really true.
(besides from the un-usable, unnecessary Touchbar)
(Try to sell 5-Year old PC's for more then pennys )

Anyway you seem to have now, do it like me, get yourself a Windows10 license and install via Bootcamp, (no virtualization recomm., due to to the havy use of database use, if you use Trackers)

And you got the best performing PC available.

I switched from Mac to Windows recently simply for the online poker aspect of it. Best decision I ever made.

Before you give up on mac..

Can you play ignition in your state? If yes

Try out ignition.

If no buy a PC

Ignition can be played on IPhone too... so again as long as you're not in NY you should try ignition.

Yes, Ignition's software is just as good on Mac as it is on Windows....unless you wish to use a HUD. If you want to use the fancy HUD's like PT4, it won't work for Ignition because Ignition card catcher doesn't has a Mac version nor do they plan on making a Mac version.

For ACR, PT4 works on Mac, but ACR's Mac software is a load of crap.

They do have iholdemindicator for Mac users, but it doesn't come up with all of the cool fancy graphs and extra options that PT4 has. It's very basic.
