I need some help please.

I recently purchased a Mac mini (late 2014, 2,8 GHZ i5 Dual Core, Intel Iris, 256 Flash, 8GB RAM) and I have noticed that PokerStars doesn't run as smoothly as I am used to on my PC running Windows 7. (Even just 1 table without any extra software!)
On my PC I was playing on PokerStars 7 and never had any issues, everything was super smooth. On the Mac, Pokerstars 7 lags all the time and is really no fun to use. As example, every time the cards are being dealt there is a noticeable judder. (It also feels like the card dealing animation is slower in general). Is this normal?
Another example would be: when there is an all-in preflop, sometimes there is a small pause during or after the flop animation and then the turn and river are being dealt really fast. You know what I mean?
I would probably be okay with it, if these issues would only occur on version 7 but this happens also every now and then on PokerStars 6.

I wasn't going to play games other than some "light" poker (on Stars) on this machine, and I can't imagine that the Intel Iris graphics is not even able to handle that without any problems.
But then again, I can also not imagine that there should be any lags at all on Pokerstars 6 on a decent Mac running the latest OSX version.

So can you please tell me if this is normal on a Mac running OSX Yosemite?

Switch back to PS6 on mac and compare to the Windows software. let us know if the animation is better on PS6 MAC then PS7 MAC

PS6 & PS7 on Windows runs super smooth for me. On PS7 on Mac there is every time a judder when the cards are being dealt to me, as example. This only happens on PS6 on Mac every now and then.

I actually contacted the PokerStars support earlier the day and they said that they are aware of the lags on PS7 for Mac and they are working on it.
Then I asked them, if it is also normal that this happens sometimes on PS6, and told them that I just want to make sure that it's not a hardware issue.
They replied:



"Thank you for your email.

Please note that for Mac OS X 10.5 Intel-based or later, the minimum system configuration for our software to function correctly is:

• 512MB RAM
• 1024x768 screen resolution or higher
• 60MB free disk space
• 56k dial-up Internet connection

The above requirements will not have a fast performance, but the game will be still playable. The recommended system configuration is the following:

• 1024MB RAM
• 1024x768 screen resolution or higher
• 100MB free disk space
• 128kbps or faster DSL or Cable Internet connection

Therefore, if your Mac Mini offers at least the recommended system configuration, we confirm that these issues are not caused by your Mac Mini.

Thank you for your understanding."



So I guess that means that their Mac software just sucks (which seems kinda crazy imo, considering we are talking about PokerStars).

The next release should improve things for you, if not contact support again with your log files as every report sent in gets their attention that much more.

UK and EU MAC clients are updated with this Fix for MTT lagging. Please try it out and see if it improves on the MAC. Send logs and specs to support if it doesn't.
