Any Danes back playing poker since the .dk switch ? Any Danes back playing poker since the .dk switch ?

Have any Danes been able to play any poker since the .dk switch ? I cant get on stars or party poker.

On stars , although all my info was correctly entered, Im unable to get past the verification screen. Ive contacted support and sent them documents as they requested, which they respond that I need to just retry and requested the same documents, yet again. This back and forth has been going on for 6 days now with them.

On party I cant even get past the log in ( migration screen). It wouldn't accept my password, I requested a new password it wouldn't accept that. I called them and they said there is a problem with getting danish players on the site, and they will send an email to me when i can play there again. Knowing party this might be a long time.

Any other Danes back playing?

I just tried to get onto party and had the same results. Customer support said that other danish players have had the same trouble. And to just wait for an email saying when its ok to play. This stuff should have been ironed out last week.

Same here for stars and party. Party asked me to email scans of my CPR card. It's all being pretty slow, and I suspect it'll take a bunch of time with both of them. I'm going to open an account with another poker room in the meanwhile. Maybe 888 or Microgaming.

Just an update: Stars support checked with the Gaming Commission, and say that it's because I don't have a "permanent address" listed in the CPR registry, and the gaming commission requires you to have a permanent address in order to be able to play (!). Here is part of the mail I got from stars:

"I am sorry to let you know that in accordance to the Danish Gaming Law you will need to have a permanent Danish address in order to play online poker.

Furthermore the law specifies that not only do your address have to be permanent, but the address, your name and your CPR-number have to match the information stored in the CPR-Register. In other words, without this information we are not allowed to let you play from Denmark."

Pretty crazy, eh?

In my case this should be easy to fix, but I expect some people to have major issues with this. If you move to Denmark, it can take 2 or 3 months to get a CPR number, settle out an address, etc etc. , and all because of a pretty nonsensical rule. Well, that's Danish bureaucracy for you.

No word from Party yet, but I don't expect it to be much different. 888 don't even have a website for the Denmark operation, and in Micro all the websites I tried were only in Danish, not English.

Still not playing on party.

Although somehow I was able to log onto the party.com site from Denmark. This shouldn't even be possible. It had been redirecting me to the .dk migrate screen in the past. I had drained my account pre-switch just in case some crap like this may happen, so I couldnt try and play. Just tried again and can still just log on to the party.com client, lol.

But I got on live chat with them ( which is so buggy it took forever just to type ). They said in chat they dont support Danish players thru live chat anymore. Well, how the f was I even able to log in? And I should email info@partyaccount.dk. 3 emails now they havent responded once. Amazing how this site runs.

Im up on stars and ipoker though.

I'm pretty sure there were some Danish players playing yesterday as a couple of them had weird characters and spaces in their name which caused HEM to mess up and when I looked, two out of three of these were from Denmark (I guess I could have got confused but I'm 95% sure they were from Denmark).

Juk

I'm playing on party now. I emailed support, and they told me to scan the front and back of my CPR card and email it to efax@pay-pro.dk (or upload it on the site). I did that, and they were pretty quick in approving me.

Well, I think it's possible, that they are playing on party through danskespil and not through partypoker.dk.

I find all this very unprofessional, though, and will probably not be playing there much longer.

ok found this thread on pokernet.dk.

Looks like a few players have had some success, but the vast majority have an abundance of different issues (most of them having the same issue as me: no response from support at all).

Yes that's possible, but they could also have been playing from PartyPoker. I'm Dane and have been able to play since 2.january and have also made a withdrawal. However the points store doesn't work, and I also lost my tickets for the 7 "World Domination" tourneys I won entry to through the promo last year. The tourneys was played last week, and of course I haven't gotten any answer from support this year yet, so I guess those tourneys are gone. SO glad I played that promo....LOL

Still unable to get back on party. Can't even log on, haven't even begun the migrate process. Support finally replies after several days with a generic response that is zero help. Saying to just log on and then migrate from there, lol. They're about to lose a customer.

Hey guys do you need to pay any taxes on your winnings or are the taxes only for the poker sites themself?

so is it fully legal now when playing on a .dk site? (and other sites are not permitted i guess?)

It is the poker sites that have to pay the 20% tax, not the players. Though some sites may chose to pass on some of the extra cost to the players. I believe I read somewhere that Stars vpp system was cut down 10% for Danish players but I'm not sure if that's true or not.

It is fully legal to play on sites that have required a Danish license. I read about some plans to block sites without Danish license but that hasn't happened yet (other than some sites doing it on their own voluntarily). From what I can understand by following discussions at a Danish forum it seems that the new Danish law was written so that players can't face legal consequences by playing on poker sites without Danish license as it is the sites responsibility and thus any site accepting Danish players without Danish license are in violation with the law.

Before this new law it was also "fully" legal to play poker in Denmark. It was also tax free on any site who had a license within EU. Though while legal to play there was an ancient law that caused a grey area. Criminal law §203 loosely states "Those who seek occupation by hazard can be punish by fine or jail. Court will decide if any winnings shall be confiscated". Since this law was made like in early 1900's no one (even many lawyers who commented on this) could really interpret the exact meaning of it in the context of online poker). One suggestion on how to interpret it was that as long as you had a job with enough salary to reasonable supply yourself then your main occupation wasn't hazard and you would not be interfering with this law.

Though I believe this law was only used -once- and the victim was a suspected drug dealer or something of that nature who claimed the ~$35k the police found in his home was from poker and the police then "exploited" this law to confiscate what they probably didn't believe to be poker winnings.

This is all just my understanding of it. Though I'm not a lawyer and may be wrong on multiple counts so don't start playing on sites without Danish license just because I said it had no consequences!
