Bump your FPPS for tourney rake.
At the moment it equals 40/90= 44% rakeback at the
highest VIP level.
Betfred's bonuses equal 70% rakeback for SNGs at
the highest VIP level.

So why should I play at your site?

One thing to be aware about: Paddy Power only accepts deposits in Euro or Pounds Sterling, and then converts this amount into USD for play at the tables. For most of us, who have transaction accounts in USD, this means losing money due to currency conversion. I just deposited $200, and was annoyed to discover that this cost me 3% in currency conversion. If I lose the same amount when I withdraw, I will be seriously peeved. Why don't you guys just allow deposits in USD like every single other poker room that I have played (and that's probably more than a dozen)?

This in and of itself would stop me ever depositing at Paddy Power, other than that welcome and up the Dubs!

Hi navarz,

Currently Instadebit cannot be used to deposit; I will look into whether we're planning to introduce this as an option.

P.S. mocky, I was at Croker on Sunday shouting 'Up The Kingdom' but we couldn't do it! Next year hopefully we'll see that Kerry-Dublin final we've been waiting for since 1985

I guess the exchange rate thing isn't a problem anymore.

where did you find it?
Paddy Power Poker Quote

Google Paddy Power Poker closing and the only thing you will find that is relevent is this thread in Google. Something doesnt smell right, there is no mention on Paddy's home page nor is there any mention of this in any poker news websites. theblindman posted this in two forums today, and its the only post on 2+2. Paddy even put up news banners on 2+2 yesterday, that wouldn't make much sense if they knew they were closing.

Until proven otherwise I would assume that the sky is not falling, wait till Paddy says siomething about this on their home page, until then i wouldn't belive it.

It's definitely legit, as I received it at an email address that was only used to sign up for Paddy. The Australia only thing is a surprise to me. Does anyone know of a reason they would close only in Australia? Is there any reason to be concerned about other sites for Australians?

I got it too

Does this mean realistically your not reopening to aussies although the email sounds like you were going too.

Noel says it's temporary. It's just a bit mysterious with no explanations...

Does anyone know if Aussie accounts on any other sites (iPoker and other) will be affected?

Info is really key here to avoid fearmongering etc.

From what I can gather it is only Paddy that is doing it.

I am guessing it may be similar to when betfair pulled out because they were trying to get an aussie licence for sports betting. That is really the only idea i have because there is no reason not to accept aussies. Our government isn't going to do anything to stop it and we currently have a fairly large number onshore online sportbetting sites.

Currently if you operate out of Australia (after the act was introduced, all companies in before it didn't effect) you can't offer services to aussies.

The merge network and Tusk are 2 good examples of this.

Also centrebet on the ipoker network currently doesn't accept aussies so they aren't the online one, again centrebet falls under that law as their poker arm opened after it was introduced.

Party poker used to be a good site, until they joined ipoker. Then it became just another ipoker skin.

Ipoker has the worst software on the net.

Also, why is this guy getting away with blatantly advertising his site...

Some more info on this matter:

We are restricting access to our poker room for Australian-based players for operational reasons; Australian players based elsewhere will not be affected (in the same way we can accept US players based overseas, but not US-resident players). Those players affected will have funds held in their poker accounts on October 15th will have the balance transferred to their sportsbook account, from which they can withdraw or use as required.

Sorry for the inconvenience; hopefully we'll be able to extend access to Paddy Power Poker to Australian-based players before too long.

As far as I know (which unfortunately is not as far as I would like in this matter!), the change has been prompted by a legal or legislative restriction on poker room operation in Australia. It would be fair to say we greatly regret having to take this step and would love to continue to accept Australian-based players at Paddy Power Poker, though hopefully the change will only be temporary (I lived in Sydney for 10 months in 2006/2007, playing live poker almost everyday at Star City to fund my trip, so have tons of Aussie poker player friends). I'll try to look into the matter in more detail and get back with any specifics if I can.

thank you I appreciate you looking into it and am very interested in the details and if it might effect us in the big picture.

As far as I am aware no laws have changed close to recently the last significant one to gaming was the "freeze" on online onshore sites years ago although betfair found a way around there.

Playing at Star City back then regularly would of been interesting, they haven't exactly been leaders in poker shamed to admit. They are improving and now host the APPT

Well, I lived in Pyrmont, two minutes walk from Star City so being a live cash 'professional' (ahem!) was an easy choice for me while in Australia. The rake was very very high but beatable as the standard was low (so many gamblers who didn't know what they were doing). I also played at the Poker Dome in Newtown, which was quite a bit tougher!

I don't understand how such a change can affect one poker room? Or do you guys operate out of Australia (I thought it was Ireland)?

Can you point us to the legislation?

This is completely bizarre. I have not heard of any such legislative changes, nor has the issue been raised by any other poker room (I am a member of more than a dozen). Would really appreciate more information if you can provide it.
