Today I received a notification that my account had been suspended and when i contacted support i got this:

Hello Oliver,

Greetings from PokerStars support.

Your account's User ID has come to our attention. PokerStars' User ID policy does not permit User IDs which are genuinely offensive or confusing to a large proportion of players. After reviewing your User ID, we have decided it contravenes our policy and is inappropriate for use at our site.

We have closed your 'SatanIsLord8' account, and request you create a new one with a more appropriate User ID. Please start the PokerStars software and select 'Create Account' from the main lobby screen.

Your account privileges have been updated in order to allow you to set up your new account using the email address '****' should you wish to do so.

Once you have created the new account, please go to the Cashier and click on 'Cashout' in order to complete your personal details and submit the Real Money form that pops up. Once you have completed the form, please write us back from this email address, and inform us of the new User ID. We will then credit any funds, FPPs, and VIP Status to the new account.

We look forward to hearing from you soon to be able to assist you further.

Firstly, i'm not a Satanist but if i were i would be inclined to take offense.
Does anyone else feel that this is kind of silly? I mean if its the case that their policy is to remove all religious references from screen-names then i can understand the thrust but if references to Satan and the devil and such are being targeted then i think that is unfair given that you have to be an adult to use the site and Christians shouldn't be gambling .

I think its pretty hilarious that "Alla" closed your account due to a Satanic name.

Also some fail by pokerstars staff, I bet they would allow JesusIsLord8. Didn't know being a satanist was illegal pokerstars.

But they have to cater to the inbred ******s who believe in jesus and/or some sort of spaghetti god as if the year is 1880 instead of 2015.

Perhaps they read your reply and felt it was a taste of the sentiment to come as they just reversed their decision and reinstated my account! Another win i believe!

Much respect to them though, it was dealt with quickly and well after my reply was escalated to someone senior within the support team. Well done PS!

Hi and thanks for the prompt reply. I'll begin by saying that your policy seems perfectly reasonable. I would however, like to hear from you some clarification on your policy. Firstly, what constitutes 'a large proportion of players' and by what means have you ascertained that this number are genuinely offended by this screen-name? I'm assuming that the 'confused' part doesn't apply in this situation but as a side note why would a large proportion of confused players give rise to the banning of a screen-name? Now i will be happy to say no more on the issue if indeed a large proportion of players do in fact find the name offensive and i will be happy to apologies to those to which i have caused such a grave degree of 'genuine offense'. To facilitate the process i have sought the opinions of others players here http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/57...ended-1562862/ and if a large proportion of them, or even if they feel that a large proportion of players generally, would find the screen-name 'genuinely offensive' then i will do as you request and say no more on the issue. Either way i respect your efforts to protect players and understand that your job may be tough and unpopular at times.

I am a support manager here at PokerStars, and this case was escalated to me.

I hope you can appreciate that we often find ourselves in a situation where the offensive nature of a User ID is in a grey area, which has been the case with your ID.

Our support staff strive to do their very best to listen to our players, and genuinely assess any User ID complaints according to our policy on these. Although we have a clear policy, there will always be assessments to be made.

After reviewing this matter I have decided to reverse the decision, and reopened your account 'SatanIsLord8'. You are now able to log-in and play on this account.

If you need assistance in re accessing the account, please contact us from the email address registered to the account, for verification purposes.
