As strongsauce mentioned, 'Paddy Power' is a fairly common Irish name; the parent company was set up in 1988 by the merger of three high-street bookmaker chains and the name is a mixture of those three names. Some of the Power family are still involved in the company and Paddy Power himself is our communications manager!

How many Paddy Power players typically play at any one time? I know you're part of the iPoker network... but do you have any idea how many of those are PP players?

I'm a Paul B as well; there are lots of us around the place!

Good question; there are a number of things that set us apart from other iPoker skins:

- Our C*A*S*H VIP programme; each iPoker skin sets up their own customised loyalty programme, so each has the scope to be as generous as they want. We have recently revamped our programme and think it is legitimately one of the most generous on the network.

- PPP-specific promotions; we run frequently raked hands races and MTT promos for our customers, which cannot be entered by other iPoker players. We often tie these into our live events (the Irish Open and the Irish Winter Festival) and given our irreverant style and sense of humour, it's a lot of fun coming up with various ideas for these! For example we recently had a 'Just A Jack Off' promo and will be debuting 'Back That Ace Up' sometime soon...

- Our exclusive qualifiers to our live events; we listen to what our players want and try to tailor our qualifying tournaments accordingly. For example, we've recently introduced some ticket-only satellites to our Irish Winter Festival for our players who want to play in October but don't particularly want all the bells-and-whistles of the full $4,500 package.

One thing to be aware about: Paddy Power only accepts deposits in Euro or Pounds Sterling, and then converts this amount into USD for play at the tables. For most of us, who have transaction accounts in USD, this means losing money due to currency conversion. I just deposited $200, and was annoyed to discover that this cost me 3% in currency conversion. If I lose the same amount when I withdraw, I will be seriously peeved. Why don't you guys just allow deposits in USD like every single other poker room that I have played (and that's probably more than a dozen)?

Site doesn't let you withdraw winnings in the first 30 days, IIRC.

Avoid, play Betfred or Bet365 instead.

yes, you are right.
i made deposit 200 euro and it converted to $288 for poker money.
but in my neteller $296 deducted. so i lost $8 for just deposit.
maybe i will lose more money when i make withdraw.

With regard the rate that Paddy Points (our loyalty points) are earned for the C*A*S*H VIP programme, I posted the following about NL/Limit $1/$2 in a different thread that may be useful:

this is now the 3rd time (3rd poker forum) that LuckyJimm has posted lies about our withdrawal policy. I've corrected him the first two times and I will do so again shortly.

I try to restrict my posting on 2+2 to the PLO Forum and I dont really want to steal Paul B's thread here but I find it hard to sit idle when others are spreading lies. As I said, it was "if I remember correctly". I made a mistake remembering and yes, my grievance was in fact about the uncalled-for 72 hour delay in withdrawals during the first month of an account's operation, something which Betfred, Bet365 etc don't feel the need for.

72 hours isn't exactly a hardship in comparison to some other sites, even PStars makes you wait 48 hours after a deposit before you can make a withdrawal.

That said, my experience with PPP wasnt great either... I tried to set up an account on PPP late 07 or maybe early this year and although I set Neteller as my funding option when setting up the account, I was told I could not deposit via Neteller until I had registered a credit card with PPP (I was told this AFTER creating the account). I dont actually have a credit card so I was left with a dormant account.
