Had the same thing happen with a check from Absolute Poker. I think it has to do with the bank not wanting to be a processor for online poker anymore.

I doubt it. Any other company could just write their own checks without going through some shady processor.

the processor must be really shady, to just cut off funding like that...if they had any professional etiquette they would have notified the sites letting them know they have to stop business.

Well in their defense I'm sure the bank didn't give them advance warning that they were going to freeze their account.

if this were true then why wouldn't poker stars just create a seperate company similar to pokerstars.net that would write the checks for them? since it wouldn't be a gambling site there wouldn't be any problems.

See, that's the rub. In any other business they would say, "We'll cash these outstanding checks, and then we're done with you." Here it's gambling, and they don't care about honoring the outstanding checks - it's gambling and they want no part of it, and that is scary for us.

They didnt cut off funding, the checks arent being returned NSF. The bank has done something to the account. No way to know at this point if the processor did something done or if someone at the bank just sniffed this out and decided to cut ties.

Its unclear whether the processor's other accounts are compromised (please dont name banks or processors)

i cashed out from FTP 2 weeks ago, i actually got the check last week but have been too lazy to go to the bank and deposit it

they just gave me the money back into my account plus some $ for the inconvenience

I have cashed out 2 separate 5k checks in the past 2 weeks (May 22nd? for the earliest)...I'm going to be upfront with the bank tomorrow and ask them if the checks are good or not

will report in the morning when sober what happened
