Everyone should wait until Stars makes their announcement today (Monday) before doing anything.

Sure it's happened before, except this is the first time it's happened since the UIGEA regs have been put into place. Cause for concern...? Probably not, but just completely blowing it off is probably not a good idea either - that's what's has caused this whole mess to begin with, IMO.

I have seen this coming for a while now. People on the forums are in some form of denial: "Oh, this has happened before" or "The sky isnt falling", etc, etc.

I'm sorry, but it has been falling. Not all at once, but slowly for 2.5 years since the UIEGA

Frankly I am disgusted by the Poker sites failure to do more to fight for U.S. players. They have made BILLIONS of dollars from Online Poker and it started with American players with an American game. Now they feel like they don't need us anymore because Poker is popular in the rest of the world. They'll take a hit initially(but still be INCREDIBLY PROFITABLE), but with Asia and South America catching poker fever these days they will recover.

People who defend the underwhelming response of Poker sites say we need to do more like support the Pokerplayers Alliance. Well grandma doesnt go to Washington DC or state capitols to lobby politicians to keep her beloved slot machines running. Why should we support an organization that has now overseen the fall of Neteller, Epassporte, and now apparently eChecks(not that the sites have given them the $$ they need).

Of course sites like Pokerstars & FullTilt could easily spare a small fraction of their profits to hire an army of lawyers to lobby in D.C. for the cause of Online Poker in the U.S. like big companies(foreign and domestic) do. But its much easier to just move on to developing Online Poker in the above-mentioned continents.

I feel like it's happened pretty recently. I recall cashing out and then getting an email that due to some problem with a check processor they had to refund my account and that I could just cash out again? I can't remember exactly, but I swear this happened before.

I'm also not saying to ignore it, it's just the morons who even hint that this somehow signifies a doomsday scenario in which poker is going to be destroyed by next week and then posting 6 paragraphs to support their unbelievably paranoid thought.....I mean wtf?

Here's an email I received from Pokerstars support about 6 months ago:

Hello Greg,

We regret to inform you that your check cashout from 8th December 2008 was
rejected by our processor without any specific reason, therefore we are
currently looking in to this matter with our processor.

As soon as we receive an update from our processor on the specific reason
for rejection we will notify you accordingly. In the meantime we would
kindly ask that you make no further check cashouts.

These funds have been returned to your PokerStars account.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused, and please let me know if we can
be of any questions.

Best Regards,

RichieM

Here is an email from November 2008:

Dear PokerStars player,

We regret to inform you that due to one of our cheque processors no longer issuing USD cheques, the cheque you requested on Nov 22nd has been cancelled.

A replacement cheque was issued and sent to you on Nov 29th. Please allow up to 15 business days to receive your new cheque.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause you and for the delay in receiving your funds.

Regards,

PokerStars Payment Services

So clearly this kind of thing has happened on occasion, yet somehow didn't result in mass panic/hysteria, and obviously had no serious effect on anything in the online poker world. I mean in the first case they even asked me not to cash out by check until it was resolved! In this case they are like go ahead, cash out, we will send you the money right away with a different processor!

I mean wtf you can cash out right now without any problems what is everyone freaking out for?

Um nothing has happened? Where the hell have you been?

To update you: Thurdsay night/Friday morning The Feds have seized a poker check processor's bank account or accounts, this same processor is apparently one used by Pokerstars and FullTilt poker. Therefore people have been having checks bounce, bank accounts closed, and it has also made disabled eChecks. Without eChecks(the easiest way to deposit), people are left only Disposable Visa cards that carry a $5-10 fee.

Here is a link if you dont believe me:

They also drove out Neteller 2 years ago, and Epassporte last year.

fwiw my check requested on the 5th of this month is no longer pending and has been processed.

Curtains, while this has happened before, there also appears to be a challenge from the feds that poker and online casinos fit under the wire act, so we might have litigation to look forward to, or dread, idk.

This is the good news I have been waiting for. I canceled my pending check last night, figured I would wait on it rather than double my limbo money. I will relax more once I have been told these new checks are clearing. I am not in a panic, but I must stay on top of this ****, or I will have my own checks failing, and CC payments late. I am sure I am not the only one in this situation.

Well looks like I have an IRX transaction of -$1,925. So my check (which I cashed before getting the email from PS) has bounced. This is going to **** me pretty hard.

I will update when my check comes in, also when my e checks hit (if ever)

My understanding is people shouldn't be worried about future checks, only the bad batch (that's ghey suzzer) that are bouncing .

Im anxiously awaiting for a press release and news from someone, everyone keep an ear out.

I think my e-check deposit must have gone through the bad processor as well since it's been a week and a half and it hasn't come out of my account when it's previously only taken about 24-48 hours.

Putting aside that the site quoted here is not always reliable on these matters, which is more likely?

1) The DoJ decided to freeze one of the processor's accounts, but allowed at least one other account of theirs to remain open; also, they did so without making any official announcement, which would be very unusual. I can verify personally that the processor's operations were not completely shut down, since I received a check from that processor drawn on their account at a regional bank; PS has told me that it'll go through properly but you can be sure that I, and hundreds of others, will post here if it turns out they're wrong.

or,

2) A bank that has taken a good deal of bailout money has decided not to deal with a processor that moves lots of money from offshore that is related to an activity whose legality is currently in dispute.

Anything is possible, and I'm sure we'll hear more at some point this week, but put me down for #2.

to track DOJ press release. As i posted on another forum, you'd think they would have an announcement out monday morning after allegedly freezing 14 mil of poker monies.

You WOULD think so, since they've put up releases on important subjects like "EX-WESTCHESTER JAIL GUARD SENTENCED TO 72 MONTHS IN PRISON" and "UNITED NATIONS EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY," but there isn't one there, and in any case, the account was frozen last week, so this would be a little late for them to put one out.
