re: Official Cake Poker Gold Card "exchange" thread
Overall, I think the GC Exchange has been a success. Now that the skins are on-line the amount of trades will increase. That being said, when all the dust settles from the initial curiosity over the exchange I believe players will still be irritated about the inability to redeem the cards.
Yes, you can sell them on the Exchange fairly easy. Unfortunately, selling prices are extremely devalued because it can take months, perhaps years, to redeem the cards. It's part of the reason players are will to dump them so cheaply and why speculators aren't will to pay more for them. Currently, there are 260 unique Gold Cards, with an additional 52 coming at the start of 2011.
I hope that Cake will use some, if not at all, of the 10% fee they take and pump it back into Gold Card uses. IMO, Cake really has the chance to increase their traffic. However, the following things need to occur:
(1) Stabilize the software.
(2) Add e-checks.
(3) Continual improvement of the Gold Card program. Send e-mails, phone calls, postcards, etc. to inactive players about their unused Gold Cards. Get them to sell them and some will stay and play on the site. What's the Gold Card use for this Friday? Who knows, hasn't been posted. Gold Cards should have at least a 7-day window of uses listed. Finally, and sorry for sounding like a broken record, but more daily uses please.
The Gold Card exchange is currently the most effect promotion Cake has. If needed, divert more money from monthly promos and channel it to the exchange.

I had gold cards from both of those sites(series 06/07) Well I obv didnt care about them cause they didn't have any value until now. I just checked my sportsbook account and my gold cards are gone. I didn't have any high cards, but Im pretty sure I had some low cards from 06, def 07. Oh well..
Good to see Jotun make some money from his cards.

Well played, a third one joined.
Would be pretty sick if like 5 other people show up now XD
Suggestion for the Exchange:
Announce more tournaments because once they are announced the value of the cards go up so the trade is much more fun!

Like usual cake messes up. Sold two cards to test it out. Sure enough it took the cards out of my collection, listed it as sold, and of course no money in my account.

re: Official Cake Poker Gold Card "exchange" thread
yo lee, the rules to this tournament are massively unfair...
"prizes will not be distributed until late registration is over"
if someone has a 4th card they are at a massively +EV situation because they can wait until 59 minutes to join the tournament where they will undoubtedly receive no worse than 2nd place.
It makes me want to unregister from this completely, who cares if it gets cancelled... maybe later on it will be more fair? there's no way with 4500 chips in play between 3 guys that they will all still be alive @ 1hr

re: Official Cake Poker Gold Card "exchange" thread
i mean by those rules, if 4 people are signed up @ 10 mins before the tournament im unregistering and waiting til 59 mins in to sign up, you can count on that.

My understanding is that you're not on Cake Poker, but on another skin. Please contact the support at your skin and it will be worked out. We just turned on the partners yesterday so there may be a start-up bump or two in the communication.

That's a valid concern; we have just turned off late registration for this tournament. If you're holding a 2006 Js, you need to go register (or sell the thing) immediately.

Edit: And we've put a warning in the tournament lobby so there can be no misunderstanding.
