haha. I wonder if Stars takes the extra play money rake they haul in an sell the play chips on ebay!

does anyone know how these other sites like bodog, cake, carbon, etc are getting players there money? dont they have to use us bank processors just like stars and FT did? Are these bank processors really continuing to process transactions for these smaller poker sites after seeing what happened in the past couple days? What am i missing here?

I would like a phonecall. They probably called me but I hadn't changed my number in the pokerstars client, it's now changed, can you give me a call?

Hey guys,

I know this is the SNE thread but I didn't know where to ask and I'm sure u guys can answer my questions.
I play 12 tables $1/2 both FR and 6max whatever is available. Anyone having a rough guess how long (hours) it will take me to make Supernova?
Currently have 27k VPP's
Also, is it possible to play more than 12tables on a lappy?

ty in advance

I have a question I have not seen raised before, I emailed but didn't get a response.

I would like to see Stars immediately enable player to player xfers.

This ability will help many players, not to talk about many that have staking relationships, ongoing MP transactions, etc.

It's our $ in the account, and there is no justification IMO for Stars blocking this ability.

They aren't going to allow p2p transfer for obvious reasons.

What happens when they open them up, there will be a stampede of US players transferring there whole account balances to non us players. In the hope that it can be cashed out for them and returned to them off site.

Stars would be mad to allow this given the charges they are facing in the US.

Lol at suggesting stars blatantly allow their players to launder money.

IIRC, the UIGEA allows cashouts. Wouldn't this mean p2p transfers wouldn't be money laundering?

Also, maybe Stars/Tilt could get a legit US processor if they only did cashouts?

I Canadian, and tried cashing out 5k to Moneybookers on Friday, and haven't heard anything yet. Starting to get a little worried, as I really didn't expect them to take this long. Probably not a big deal, but would like to see some results.

I also cashed out 5K on Friday and have heard nothing (Germany), my guess is that they are backlogged with cash out requests. I am also worried, but I am pretty confident that our money is ok.

depends on how many hours you play, figure out your vpp rate/hour and you can (presumably) do the math from there

-----------

12 tables of $1/2 FR, with some 6-max = ~275 VPPhr

73k VPPs required by you, = 73k/275 = ~265 hours.

You can play 24 tables on a laptop, although it may lag if you have HEM/PT3 running.

Hello Alex,

Thank you for your email.

At this time, we unfortunately cannot confirm whether US players registered
via the PokerStars client will be able to use their entry to participate in
the EPT events.

However, the events are still taking place as planned.

We will update you as soon as we can, and we thank you very much in advance
for your patience.

Kind regards,

Mojca H

I e-mailed Stars on 4/15 about the San Remo event and have gotten 3 different responses. I was supposed to have been registered for the event as part of my SNE rewards (was planning on using 3 or 4 smaller tournies instead of the 2 big ones).

On 4/16, Gareth with the VIP team said they have no further information on whether or not I'm still registered.

Later on 4/16, William with the VIP team said my tourney entry will be honored.

However, today I got the same e-mail Hodge posted above from Mojca of the Live Events team saying they are again unsure of whether or not I'm entered.

I wish someone could just confirm officially whether I'm in San Remo or out, I'm supposed to fly out of Omaha, Nebraska to Europe in 12 hours and can't really afford to be wasting money on this trip if I don't even have the 8 nights in San Remo booked, now that most of my money is tied up in PokerStars cashier. Talk about a cluster****.

I'm sure I'm not the only person in this situation as many of you are SNE, Nova, or at least Platinum. Eventually all of us American players will revert back to Bronze if we aren't allowed to play and then we can't convert any FPP's to anything at that point. Just dropping one VIP level has a profound effect on how much your FPP's are worth. Fortunately, we have 13 days, counting today, before the month is over but I'd really like to hear an official word or best practices recommendation. I'm already going to lose out on future earnings because I can't play. I don't want to lose out on anything I've already earned if I can help it.
personally i'm hoping stars will convert everyone's fpps at a rate close to .016 cent/fpp (the 4k bonus rate), even if they have <250k fpps. I haven't converted my fpps yet because otherwise i'm taking about a $300 hit cause i only have ~165k fpps. I assume no one has heard anything about the fpp conversion yet?

Has anyone applied for a visa to move to Canada yet? I know it'll be awhile before stars accepts the address change but I feel like its a good idea to be prepared when it happens. After looking on the site http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp it looks alot more complicated than I thought. What would you tell an immigration officer when you're trying to cross? "Oh yeah, online poker got banned in the US so im using your guy's country for the next six month so I can still make a living". Not sure if that would fly with them if they know your sole income is poker, or "gambling" as a European immigration officer called it when I moved to London earlier this year. Just a huge mess, but I think if there are people who are content with moving, we should all gather up as much info as possible about the subject and work together so it'll be a smooth process for all of us.

you can vacation there for 6 months w/o getting a visa. telling them at the border that you are entering their country to work will get you booted.
04-18-2011 , 07:31 PM
You don't need a Visa to go to Canada.

No. It means it WOULD be money laundering.

It's pretty obvious why they can't allow their customers to do money transfers, isn't it? (Well, I thought it was anyway...the fact that people don't understand why I guess are proving me wrong).

you would tell them you were coming as a visitor to sight see or whatever. Then you just have to apply for a visitor visa extension from inside canada. which it looks like you can do online:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-servi...tend-visit.asp

the website actually makes it look like canada is one of the easiest places to live for an extended period of time as a US citizen. Much easier than Europe. But that's just my short interpretation.
