Re: Official 2009 Supernova Elite pursuit thread

Sorry for screwing up my post.

89,200 is approx. 1.5(one and a half) not 15(fifteen) times my current salary w/ benefits. Sorry for the confusion.

Haha. Slight difference between 1.5x and 15x.

But the idea that some sharp people from 3rd world countries could really clean up compared with their other options is correct and 15x more really wouldn't be incorrect for a lot of people I think.

I would say we should get a double vpp day for all the server crashes and lags lately, but that obv wouldnt work.

Because as soon as Stars hits 180k players it takes a dump.

I'm guessing this is somewhat of a joke about how much more this guy is saying he will end up making but it's also correct. A guy like piscogay who made Elite at mostly 1/2 NL and is from Argentina probably fits this description. $10k/yr is a good salary in my GF's home country for example.

I still sit here wondering why we don't live there bob.

Re: Official 2009 Supernova Elite pursuit thread

I know this has been asked a zillion times but I don't play limit so I never usually pay attention. But with the last few posts talking about SNE through 1/2 limit, approximately how many hands of 1/2 limit FR is it for SNE?

amerzel - i would guess around 3 million.

lacky - Because you don't want to live 12 to a household in a high crime area with an inappropriately high chance of getting kidnapped? It's not all "hey...everything's super cheap" in 3rd world countries. There are a handful of drawbacks too.

well, durdan said he was getting .31/hand. lets say that improves slightly as a few of them dropout and figure .32/hand. that would be about 3,125,000 hands. I would guess they can average about 1500 hands/hour (assuming longish sessions), so 2083 hours. I played 2100 total last year counting mtt play and stuff, so it's definately doable.

it's also going about it the hard way imo. just moving to 6max 1/2 is about .4/hand. staying with fullring, working on your game some as you go and moving up to 2/4 gets you about .4-.45/hand also. making it to 3/6 gives about .46-.5/hand, making it to 5/10 moves it up to about .9/hand.

It can be done all at 1/2 full, but learning and improving along the way and moving up gradually would reduce the number of hours alot. I get bored easy though. for someone that doesn't just grinding along making enough off bonuses to make the swings not matter wouldn't be bad. if they are winners at all in the game they should never have a losing month, or even come close.

Yeah I certainly will not play 1/2 lhe the whole year. Its a good starting point after I made some cashouts and cannot play higher at the moment.

bob, if we were making 10x the average income, couldn't we have a house in a nice nieborhood without 12 people in it (I mean I already have 6 in my house, I figure I could pay the 6 locals isigned to live with me to go somewhere else?)

getting kidnapped would suck though. I have a friend thats lived in Peru for like 8 years though without being bothered. Whats the kidnap rate /1000 for above average but not rich white people? If it's less than the odds on getting shot in LA, I could probably live with it.

I suck at learning languages though, kinda a bad beat. it's also possible though that my highschool french teacher just sucked at teaching it though.

25.1k vpp. I'm already kinda bored.

Re: Official 2009 Supernova Elite pursuit thread

Yes, your standard of living would be decent and you could find an okay neighborhood and place for the money and would probably be fine.

There really is no difference between 'above average but not rich' though. If you are 'above average' that means you are rich as far as they care. You would be really stupid to drive a nice car there because that's just asking to be kidnapped or at least have it stolen. Especially as a white person. I'm not exaggerating on that one. Pretty much everyone knows and understands that. Want somebody to follow you home or to wherever you're going? Drive something other than a beat up 1994 Nissan. You might be close to the only one. And being white is pretty much synonymous with "actually has money."

No, the chances of getting kidnapped aren't super-high if you are somewhat smart and don't flaunt the fact that you are pretty much richer than anyone you will encounter. But you do have to be cautious about it. I was only there for 2 weeks though and don't even speak the language so my experience may not be accurate.
