Re: Official 2009 Supernova Elite pursuit thread
I'm tempted to try it, but it just doesn't seem like great value. You kill yourself for the equivalent of $114,000, but that includes the value of travel for the EPT Monte Carlo package and the value of the tournament buy-ins, which are like $25,000. I know you could just sell 99% of yourself to get cash, but it seems dumb to reward cash players with $25K in tournaments...just give us the cash imo. Also, the $114,000 figure accounts for using all of your FPPs for stuff via concierge, but what if you aren't planning on spending it and just want to save the money? Wouldn't you lose even more value since you're not ordering anything?
What's the value of getting, say, halfway to SNE and quitting? You get each of the bonuses ($2,000+$3,000+$4,000+$5,000), and you get the value of the FPPs (which I'm unsure of due to the level multipliers), so that's like $30,000?

Re: Official 2009 Supernova Elite pursuit thread
If you'd be killing yourself don't do it. If you think without sne existing you'd play close to that amount, then do it. At least that's how I approached it. I'm going to play full-time next year which means playing enough to make sne. If Stars didn't have a VIP program I'd probably game select across sites but still play similar number of hands.

1. I don't think so, the Main Event entry is $1575.
2. That would be really nice, reaching SNE would be much easier if they did that again.

Suggestions?

Play less, 2000-2200 hours is insane.

With fractional VPPs? I got a shot.

Good luck!

Re: Official 2009 Supernova Elite pursuit thread
Good luck to all trying.
To all the 100nl and 200nl players going for it, do you not feel you could make more by playing less tables and trying to really improve your game. Move up to 400nl, 600nl or 1000nl and make more money than SNE playing way fewer hands.

8 tabling 1/2nl 6 max for 24.5 hours a week will get you there. Not a bad salary for people who can't megatable, or want to play less tables to improve.

this was certainly true for me. i could have made just as much money by playing 2/3 the hours i did this year and i wouldn't have put my body through such rigor. I'm sure rays champs is in a similar situation.
i'm not sure how different it would have been if i didn't procrastinate though

Re: Official 2009 Supernova Elite pursuit thread
No idea if I can make it but I will make a test run and try to play 1400 Sngs before going to the PCA... If I am not totally worn out I will likely go for SNE

Re: Official 2009 Supernova Elite pursuit thread
Huge congratulations to all the SNEs in 2008!
I am probably the only donkey going for SNE in 2009 via $1/$2 FR LHE 23-24 tabling. I have no doubt I can do it without disintegrating bankrollwise, it's just about putting the time in. I figure if I do 3250 VPPs/day when I play I will build in some buffer for days off basically playing 6 out of 7 days a week for the whole year. I made SN in June of 2008.
The 2008 SNE thread has given me a lot of motivation so I thank you guys for that. Time to steel the resolve and begin the quest at midnight tonight.
Good luck to everyone also going for SNE in 2009!

If you can get 2 days studying in what's left of this year then 2M next year should be trivial.
