Can we make this a $30 Buy in at least? Affordable yet not mind numbing?

We need to figure out as close to the right amount as possible to not make it too boring for high limit players but not too expensive for low limit players.

I agree with savant that it should go up a little bit, but not too much. I think the people who usually play $5-10 tourneys would be willing to go to $25 or so simply for the fact that it's a once a month series.

Update The news comes early. We have officially partnered with 888 for season two, and they are now giving us $2500.00 in added money for BANJO this year. This money increase should increase participation, along with the new scoring system, that we will put in place. Keep giving suggestions for the season, in this thread, as I will take everything into consideration, before developing our season plan. Thanks

888 will be offering a free swag package to each regular season event winner. The package will most likely include an 888 hat, card protector, etc etc. I'm getting all nine packages in the mail in February, so I'll know what it consists of, when I receive it. Then I can mail each package to the winner of each event. My 888 rep also would like me to set up a BANJO twitter account, so I will do this in February.

I strongly suggest making each tournament $100 added this will hopefully be enough to get people to keep playing even if they are low in the standings.

I also still think every winner should receive a bye. I would assume this would make the final tourney 12 or 13 people. It loses the allure of "The Final Table", but I think it will keep the numbers up all year.


Also, this may be a PITA for Brilliant, but maybe not just mentioning each tourney here, but maybe create an email or PM list that you can send out on the Friday before.

Whatever is decided, props to Brilliant for building this up. I expect another great year.

Official 2015 BANJO Season 2 Rules:
BANJO Season 2 will be held on 888PokerNJ

The following dates will be used for the nine regular season events:
February 22nd, March 29th, April 26th, May 31st, June 28th, July 26th, Aug 30th, Sep 27th, Oct 25th. These dates are all the last Sunday of each month. The BANJO Championship will be held on November 29th at 7:30pm

Each event will start at 7:30pm and each event will have 1 hour of late registration. We will all start with a 5,000 chip starting stack, and levels will last 12 minutes.

Each event will be password protected, and you can private message me for the password.

Each event will be a $15 entry fee, with standard 888 rake, and the standard 888 payout structure.

The winner of each event will receive an 888 swag prize package, in addition to their monetary award.

The top 20 finishers in each event will earn points. At the end of each regular season event, I will calculate the cumulative points, using this point system:
1st: 30 points
2nd: 25 points
3rd: 20 points
4th: 18 points
5th: 16 points
6th: 15 points
7th: 14 points
8th: 13 points
9th: 12 points
10th: 11 points
11th: 10 points
12th: 9 points
13th: 8 points
14th: 7 points
15th: 6 points
16th: 5 points
17th: 4 points
18th: 3 points
19th: 2 points
20th: 1 point

I will post the cumulative points, in this thread, less than 24 hours after each regular season event has ended.
The Top Nine Cumulative Point earners, after all nine regular season events are complete, will make it to the BANJO Championship on November 29th, 2015.

Special Note: A players top 6 regular season point scores, will be used, for their cumulative point scores. This will allow players to join late, if necessary, and not feel at a big disadvantage. For example: If player X earns points in all nine regular season events, only his top 6 points will be used to determine his cumulative regular season points. Let us say that in the nine events, he earned: 18, 15, 12, 30, 6, 3, 1, 12, 14 points. The top six will be taken, aka 18, 15, 12, 30, 12, 14 and his cumulative year long points will be 101 points.

IN ADDITION, each regular season event winner, wins an automatic entry into the BANJO Championship, regardless of their cumulative point standings. This will ensure that players will have a chance to make the Championship, even if they join the series later in the year.

Prizes: 888 is providing a very gracious $2,500.00 in added money to the series. I have decided to use $300 of this added money, to supplement the prize pool for the last three regular season events. So the regular season events on August 30th, September 27th, and October 25th will each have $100 extra added to the prizepool. This is a little extra incentive for players to continue grinding the regular season events.

The BANJO Championship will be held on November 29th, 2015. It will start at 7:30pm, and it will have 5,000 starting chips with 15 minute levels. It will be a $50 + $4 rake buyin, with the $2,200.00 added by 888. If only 9 people qualify for the championship, the payout structure will be as follows:
1st: $1,000
2nd: $550
3rd: $350
4th: $280
5th: $165
6th: $110
7th: $80
8th: $60
9th: $55

****If more than nine players qualify for the championship, the above payouts will obviously change slightly.

There is also a good chance that the champion will get a twoplustwo undertitle, saying “2015 BANJO Champion”, or something of that nature.
888 will also do some free BANJO Pop up advertising, on the main 888 login screen, at several times throughout the year.

Assuming we get more than 9 people in the final, just pay 10th and lower $50 and keep the payouts you posted. They can live with losing the rake.

Excellent changes for season 2 ! And thanks to 888 for the added prize money and the pop up ads.

Don't get me wrong, the pop-up ads can't hurt, but if we stick to the 2+2 sign up date then the pop ups won't help until 2016. Hopefully though, it will drive more and more traffic to 2+2 and this series can continue to grow.

Brilliant, I wouldn't promise a 24 turn around on standings starting with the 7th tournament. Once we finish the 7th tournament it becomes much harder and more time consuming because you'll need to subtract the lowest scores from anyone who came in the top 20 in every tournament.

I intend to play. I'll set up calendar reminders this year so I don't forget about them so often.

Already out of first tournament because of a business trip to Florida that has me leaving Sunday morning.

Great changes, love the Top 6 idea since things can come up that might make someone miss 1 or 2. Now they won't be penalized. Nice job as always Bril.

This may have already been addressed, sorry. Last year you couldn't register very early. The tourneys would be posted for a while but not open for registration until I think the day of. Can that be changed??
