So, who intends to play in this year's BANJO!?

Please post if you do. I'll gather the TPT users' names into one list, below, and delete your posts, if I can, so we don't mess up the thread. You don't have to give your SNs if you want to keep them confidential, and you're not obliged to follow through if you later change your mind.

If the book had run last year, as above, everyone betting on Jal1979 would have received $8.80 per $1 bet on him. (Assuming he had the most points - I forgot to check.)

We would need a reliable escrow to hold our bets for the next 10 months or so.

I'd be happy to give up-to-date "odds" for bets already taken, as an indicator for potential bettors. I doubt if I could be the escrow, but perhaps a respected mod like BBB might offer.

There's really good value here with the $$$ added to the final. Plus it's fun competition. No reason not to at it to your phone's calendar with a reminder earlier in the day. That's what I did.

I tend to disagree, as then people could treat a game late in the year solely as a satellite to a relatively big tournament, whereas the whole point of the series is to build community spirit, create online and real friendships, and to enjoy playing in a series with mostly the same players.

In the past I've been involved with multiple forum tournament series.

In every one, the # of players dwindled toward the end. You'll always lose players when they can no longer get in the FT.

Maybe making the points more top heavy might help. One of the Jersey sites (888?) had a great formula that used # of players and BIs. There were square roots involved. I had it in a file at the time but either can't find it or I deleted it. It awarded more points for top finishers with more runners.

I'm definitely down, would even be better if it was a little bit higher, but still I'm in for anything under $50

I agree with JrsyLdy, make the points top heavy, but not a winner auto-advances to avoid the final table. Maybe do something like you get a small number of points just for participating in each event, and then points for your place. It would encourage more people to keep playing, especially if they aren't cashing and earning points.

Just my thoughts, but however you do it, I'm still game

Always a fun time, I would prefer to have a Wednesday night series. I missed too many last year because of family activities or holiday weekends.

Definitely back in it for round 2.

I feel last year holiday weekends were a problem for a lot of people. To the point that some tournaments were almost a free roll for points. So instead of top twenty getting points maybe a top heavier point system might help. Also to attract players for later in the season.

As for weekdays or weekends, ok with both. But look at the calender. If it's a holiday weekend, what's wrong with bumping it a week before? As long as you put the schedule up before event #1, then maybe a reminder before the said event.

Now for promoting it... Doors are open, let the ideas fly.

I just looked at a calendar and don't see any holidays on the weekend of the last Sunday of the month this year

Check Thursday to Tuesaday. Anything in that time frame will affect the game. Not to boost my own message, but anyone who played, saw holidays were a down day for us.

If this is on Sunday I am in. (Travel out of state for work during most weeks)

Also in favor of some sort of scoring system that allows users to miss some events and not be too negatively impacted.

I won't be able to make it tomorrow for the meetup. My car is awful on any bad roads, and tomorrow I am not leaving the house, due to the weather. I'm just going to grind online tomorrow on my normal day off. I do have some exciting BANJO news that you will undoubtably enjoy, but I cannot announce it until minimum Feb 1st. So stay tuned....
