Only played UP and Borg so far. Borg was better today, but was getting locale booted often for a stretch. UP seemed more stable, and I like the software much better than the B for now. We're gonna be ok. Just have to give it some time, and just have to keep peppering them with feedback/pressure. Buckle up!

What do you like about the Ultimate software?

I saw it ITT and then made an account and got the $50 in my account instantly. It was also released as cash, not bonus cash like the Party bonus.

So I tried logging in to Borgata and it wouldn't accept my info and locked me out.

Hmm... was there a special link? Cause the site says $20. I had seen this amount mentioned a few times ITT earlier though as well.

Like it better than the B, mostly. Lobby better, and it just seemed to work a bit smoother for me. I am interested in hearing about the other sites when others comment.

There is no special link and no mention of it anywhere. It could have just been a yesterday thing, but multiple people including myself signed up yesterday and got $50 cash in our accounts. The $20 thing clearly states "Not for the soft launch", so my guess is that will be the future promotion.

If you read back a few pages you'll see probably 10+ people who signed up and took advantage of the no deposit cash bonus. I assume they did it because the cashier wasn't working and they wanted people to play.

No, they don't. I think he meant he reached them via phone for support, not cell phone geo tracking.

That $20 offer is not valid for the test period. Look at the small print. The $50 was not advertised anywhere that I saw. I just took a chance after I saw a few people getting it upon account creation. I received it as well. Good luck!

Is SSN required for all the sites opening up in NJ?

I'm not very comfortable giving out that information over the internet, especially on unproven software to unproven business.

Does anyone happen to know why this information is even required in the first place? I'd have to assume for taxation reasons.
yes, you need to provide this. Its not for tax reasons at all, its to verify you are who you say you are and that your age meets the minimum 21 yrs old.

I just created an account on party poker and it shows this:

Real Money:
USD 50.01 (Available for withdrawal)

Anyone else get that?

Yes, I meant I reached support via a phone call, not the chat feature.

I know what he meant. I was just asking if he got it working and was wondering if he used his cell phone to do it. That's what happened when I contacted ultimate.

So why does Party/Borgata have this on their FAQ/Support page?

If you have "LogMeIn" or "GoToMyPC" installed and active.... or any other form of remote access is enabled then you will get a message saying you aren't in New Jersey even if you are. If you are using a MAC, I will bet that you have "screen sharing" enabled and that is causing an issue. You can turn it off in system settings.

If you are close to a border, then I would suggest looking up your IP address details in Google. If the IP address you are on is saying NJ then you should be all good. It would also help if your neighbor's wifi connection was visible.

Hope this helps with your geolocation troubles.

FYI... right in the middle of this post I got kicked from my tournament for "not being in NJ" anymore. I closed the app and restarted it without a hitch... only problem is I had AQ suited on the drop.
the actual reasons for these messages are a little different than you expect...

The remote software bans don't give a false reading on your account as to location, they are banned so that 1. you cannot use one to ply from another state via a computer in NJ or 2. Someone else cannot play via your computer in this state. Typical VPN concerns you have to either disable or remove them. Doubtful there will ever be a change in this condition of play for the obvious reasons.

IP address is not the single criteria being used by any site here, one reason being so many false negatives as we cn tell, another being that its accuracy could be miles rather than feet. It is however one factor involved in the process.

For the overwhelming majority of sites here, possibly all, multiple Wi-Fi connections have to be visible on your computer, even if you are not connecting thru wifi. I've already posted various ways to check that and enable it.

Does anyone know a workaround for Cisco Client VPN. I use my computer at home for work and would rather not have to uninstall it. It seems to be blocking the geolocator, and there is no sign of it running in taskmanager or anywhere I can see. Thanks for any help.

Diamond... All your points are valid. The reason I suggest IP lookup is because some companies like cablevision tie their IP's to the New York Hub if you're on the Rockland County/Bergen County border for example. Hence your neighbor would have a NY IP address too if they were using Cablevision. An IP check could help you resolve whether it's an actual location problem or if it's something else preventing it from working. That was definitely the case with my Mac.

Allow me to clarify...

It is not the ONLY way used. No site in NJ uses only cell phone technology to locate you, its too easy to play from out of state when your buddy has a cell phone here in NJ. As they said, "other technical solutions" that should be clear. The other solutions being Wi-Fi and IP.

For people wondering about multiple accounts playing on the same site I just saw on UP that it is allowed as long as they aren't at the same cashgame table or STT.

They also said that they will have MAC and android after the soft play. iphone and ipad have been created but they need Apple approval.

This is for Ultimate Poker

EDIT: Ignore the part about android, I just asked support and was told they only have a casino product right now and not poker.

I totally agree with this. Most people aren't sure what "remote" software is on their computer. I'm on a Mac and just pretty much found out what to turn off on my own. When you go into "System Preferences" and then "Sharing" I turned off "Remote Management." I don't do remote computing at all, but it was checked on, probably be default.

It would really help if the sites listed the offending software by name, for both Windows and Mac. I can only imagine how many technical calls/emails they'll be handling on Tuesday.

I understand we're in a soft launch now and have totally enjoyed playing online again the last couple of days. I've been able to play on Party Poker and Borgata, but can't stay connected at WSOP.

Yeah, this is what they are trying to eliminate. However, its my understanding if you are a uber geek there are still work arounds for this issue. They dont do geolocation in Nevada though do they? On UP all I needed was a NV IP and NV phone to triangulate.
