PokerStars would like to announce the following changes to VIP Reward Bonuses effective immediately:

There is a new $25 VIP Reward Bonus available to all players, including BronzeStar VIPs, for 2,500 FPPs

The $50 VIP Reward Bonus has been reduced in price from 5,000 FPPs to 4,500 FPPs.

The $285 VIP Reward Bonus is now a $300 VIP Reward Bonus, for the same price of 25,000 FPPs.

PokerStars does plan to make any major changes to the VIP Program at the start of each year when feasible, but these changes indisputably benefit players so they were able to be made midyear.


The above changes are all permanent. In addition, PokerStars will be running a 'MicroMania' promotion in July to benefit those who play the smallest stakes on the site. This promotion increases VIP Club benefits in two ways:

Each player can purchase one $6 instant cash credit from the VIP Store for 375 FPPs between now and the end of July.

NL and PL Cash games up to including stakes of $0.05/$0.10 will offer 10x VPPs in July. All new tables created starting over 12 hours ago have been awarding 10x (as opposed to the usual 5.5x or 6x) VPPs at NL/PL tables up to and including $0.05/$0.10 stakes. A server restart early this week will ensure that all of these types of tables are awarding 10x VPPs before July 1st. VPP earning at these tables will return to normal after July 31st.

Additional MicroMania promotions not focused on the VIP Club will be announced over the coming week.

It means (and I am sick right now, on meds, so no grindage) - they are pushing the lower limit games with the higher rake with extra VPPs. If you are bronze, than 1 fpp = 10fpp (watch out for some silver and gold to drop in on these games). It helps you to clear the bonus/cash rebates faster.

Yes (but the fpps buy the cash, bonus - and silver, gold, etc earn at higher rate, so 1 fpp could go to 25 fpps for these players, don't remember the chart off hand.)

no. previously these tables were earning 5.5x or 6x depending on max players the table could seat. the vpp rate times rake divided by players seated was the per hand earn rate. this promo ups it to 10x multiplier instead if I'm reading it correctly.

it looks like approx a 66 to 82 percent increase in vpp accrual on these tables while the promo runs if I'm not too tired to do basic math.

No, these are both wrong.

It means that there will be for every $1 raked from the pot at the nano stakes mentioned, 10 VPP will be distributed amongst those dealt into the hand instead of the usual 5.5 VPP (6max games) or 6 VPP (FR games).

You won't get 10x more VPP or 10x more FPP than normal.

It's actually about a boost of about 1.6x in real terms

Steve - When you explain this publicly you should really go a bit more out of your way to explain what you mean by 10x VPP's. There are MANY players, especially at those stakes, who have no idea that their current VPP rate is 5.5x or 6x per $1 of rake. So they don't have a reference to understand the 10x thing...and many will understandably believe it to mean that it's like double-VPP's promotion except that now it's a crazy 10x-promotion.

Otherwise, nice changes to help the lower stakes players. None of those changes help me directly at all of course but if it attracts more players to the site and also helps them builds profits or stay in the games longer than hopefully there is some long-term benefit.

Well, I guess that means you're back at the site. If your criteria is that you don't want all the fish to be at the 20-50bb tables then that is already the case and they didn't even need to change the table structure to accomplish that.

As I mentioned to you a few weeks ago I thought there needed to be a cash bonus for the guys at the nanostakes as it's pretty impossible for most guys down their to make enough vpps to attain silverstar and buy the $50 bonus, most guys who are at the nanostakes are looking to build their bankroll and monetary bonuses would be more appealing to them.

e.g. i got 1vpp/100 now and when promo starts i get 2vpp/100?

WIth 2500 fpp i could play like 9 quarter million 6max sats only need to cash in 1/3 of them to make it +ev

I play SNGs and use my FPPs for the 4k bonus.. so I'm assuming this promotion doesn't do anything for me besides cash in on $6 quicker.

Is there much difference vpp wise between 10nl and 25nl now?
