what he is saying is correct...they do request a teller although i am not sure why. if your teller is asking you a lot of questions all you have to do is say "if there is a problem i have no problem taking my business elsewhere." you're not doing anything illegal and there is no reason to answer a nosy tellers questions. if you do answer just say that u have been doing some work online. if they press you state the above quote and re-think if you want to do business at that chains local branch. Obviously when you bring up taking your business elsewhere they stop their questions. Like others in this thread i bank at ace bank and have never had an issue with a ton of max checks over the years.
Edit: generally the teller has a few questions about the checks that are legitimate questions. They tend to ask what currency the check is in even though it is clearly USD. potentially that is why they want you to be in person and why people potentially have issues. Tellers aren't the most intelligent people in the world and do make mistakes like processing checks in the wrong currency. that would be one good reason to deposit your check with a teller.
