Merge Gaming Network Discussion Thread, Carbon Only

Looks like Carbon closed their sub-forum. Post any merge-related issues/questions etc here

The withdrawal discussion can be continued here:

Re: Merge Disussion Thread

Good idea for a thread, we should probably use google cache to find the helpful verification info that somebody posted(I can't remember who it was off the top of my head). Also use google cache if there is something else people remember that was important that could be helpful.

Re: Merge Disussion Thread

I've got a merge related question - why did they close the sub-forum?

Re: Merge Disussion Thread

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they decided that the money it cost them every month to pay for a support forum wasn't worth the return they were receiving in the decision makers' minds.

Does this make anyone else a little nervous?

Wow, that makes me a little uneasy. So how about that new MTT schedule?

Re: Merge Disussion Thread

I posted some directions for getting verified long ago in the Carbon forum.. Not sure if they are still valid, but I found them.

Quote:
Guys, this is how you have to upload the docs for quick verification:

In the client, go to --> Account --> My details

This will popup your browser and bring you into your Player Admin page.

Click on the "Account Verification" button on the top right.

You will see a few sentences devoted to 'overview', and directly underneath that you will see the phrase "click here to learn more about the process"

Click on that link.

A new window will popup, with a massive wall of text about their withdrawal policy. In the first paragraph, you will see the word "here" highlighted in blue.

It's a link. Click on it.

This will bring up a new popup window where you are to upload your documentation.

Fill out the form and upload your Docs.

You should get an email confirming that they received your upload shortly thereafter.

You will get an email confirming the process was successful within the next 48 hours or so.

This is the only way I was able to successfully get my docs sent in.

Follow these directions and you'll be fine.

What the hell? Carbon sub forum was actually reasonably popular and had a lot of good discussion going on, this seems pretty strange

Re: Merge Disussion Thread

I've got a very bad feeling about this. It's not just that the forum closed, it's that CarbonRyan didn't really post anything about it, essentially leaving us hanging. Something like this usually comes with a long farewell speech. I have a feeling that there is something bad coming down the pike that we really aren't going to like and that they really don't want to respond to.

I've been a little puzzled over the past week that they quietly got rid of the Free Seats Giveaway in mid-month with saying a word about it. When I mentioned it in the forums my post was ignored.

I also don't understand why they deleted the entire subforum. There is a huge amount of information in that forum that would prove useful to players trying to fix problems or understanding various aspects of the site. Even Lock left up their subforum when they decided to leave. Carbon has essentially deleted their entire history.

Re: Merge Disussion Thread

Yea it is pretty weird how they did not keep any of the old threads of information and no actual word about it what so ever. Oh well hope for the best expect the worse I guess. Shame if Merge as a network were to go because I don't want to deal with the ****ty interfaces of every other US client.

This is what I find a little strange - at least with Lock when they left, their stuff has remained read-only. Why everything except what was already in the Internet Forum (the Merge withdrawal thread) was removed is a little peculiar to me.

Not really sounding a general alarm here or anything, but just odd that everything was removed - lot of good info there.

Re: Merge Disussion Thread

No surprise here. Carbon has been moving toward the recreational model for some time now. Clearly they don't see marketing to 2p2 as something that is very important. I would not be so nervous about this, seeing as it comes at a time when cashouts are super fast. If checks were taking 8+ weeks and this happened I could see being worried, but I think this is just a business decision.

Pretty sure the bolded wasn't within Lock's control.

I don't think anyone of us would be that surprised if they took this approach, but to do it without even so much as telling us? I don't see how they wouldn't think that would lead to some uneasiness, and why would you ever want to create uneasiness from your customers?

This is pretty much how I feel, checks have been coming at an insane clip, not worried about my money on Carbon. I might be a little nervous that some of the higher value promotions are going away, in favor of a more recreational model, but that's a business decision Carbon is more than welcome to make, I just have a feeling the hell they would catch for it would be absurd on these forums.

EDIT: Also, none of us know exactly how much a support forum costs per month, that for sure would be a huge part of the equation.

I don't want to overreact to this, but it can't really be a good thing. The forum was actually good, even helpful at times. It'd be nice if Ryan would come ITT and post something.

Once they deactivate support he can't post in any official capacity unless they pay to still be an official rep on the forums and just not have a sponsored forum, which I doubt they have done.

Merge has always been extremely aloof when it comes to managing perceptions.

Even though I believe they are trustworthy, they've had a lot of "Wtf?" moments from a marketing standpoint.

Re: Merge Disussion Thread

If it were just a matter of the cost of running a subforum, I think that there would have been at least some sort of good-bye from CarbonRyan. I think that there is more to it. That they don't seem to be concerned about the fallout that this will produce has me concerned. When this starts getting reported on the various poker news services, it's not going to be good for the health of the site.

Actually I didn't think they could top the "Wtf?" moments that have already gone by. I guess I was wrong.

It won't be reported, it's not really news to anyone but people that use that section, which is a very tiny % of the actual playing population.

These things do get reported on a myriad of sites like Pokerfuse. And there are links from sites like Pokerscout that direct people to those reports. I think that this is a big deal especially since it raises so many unanswered questions and raises so many concerns.

Re: Merge Disussion Thread

Maybe it's due to WSOP opening a subforum and opening their doors for business today?

Perhaps they don't want to give a legal site any reason to go to the DOJ to take out the competition.

They must be free to leave Merge by now I would think. Just to much talent at Carbon to stay tethered to Merge when they no longer have to be.

This brings up another far-fetched possibility. It could be that Carbon is switching networks. Equity Poker, for one, is opening its doors to its games any day now.
