The person speaking with me, Caleb, said that we can gain access to our account if we have an address overseas. We need to email PS a copy of our lease/bank statement and our ID. Which is the same process as before. You will not be allowed to access tables from the USA.

Can anyone confirm that they have spoken to PS and have heard the same thing? This, apparently, goes against emails first received from Poker Stars. I want to make sure that the person I was talking to did not make a mistake.

As an American living abroad and still able to access Stars I can confirm this is the case.

Was this always the case? Were you ever locked out of Stars?

It's important to distinguish that Caleb told you that if you relocated out of the US you would be able to play on PokerStars, you would be able to play on PokerStars. Players will have to both show documents to back up their relocation and be physically located outside of the USA whenever they are playing on PokerStars.

PokerStars is not pleased to not be able to allow play from within the US. However, these restrictions are necessary at this point in time and they will be strictly enforced.

So, if we move to Canada and have a bank account there, will we gain access to our old account and our funds? Will we need to create a new account?

So we definitely need a foreign bank account, in addition to proof of residence in the new country?

Do you have to withdraw to the country you are physically registered in?

Sheesh, I'm actually outside of the unted states right now, and will be for awhile, but I guess I can't change my address, because I won't be getting any bills here. Is there anyway they can just look at my Ip and allow me to change my address?

I would imagine, if anything, you would need a foreign bank account. No way any money is going through US banks right now. Are we even allowed to cash out through foreign banks?

If it were that easy everyone in the US would just be routing their internet connection through a proxy in another country.

Steve one last question regarding this. Do americans need to file dual residency/citizenship to have an ID that shows they are canadian? Or can I just rent an apt in canada and open a bank account there and use my US passport for ID still? This is quite important to me.

This. All of us expats can still play on Stars and Tilt as much as we want. Mostly what they want to see is utility bills, bank statements, etc.

if you're 18+ you can't have dual citizenship with the U.S./other afaik
but yeah, I have this question too, and if so, would a P.O. box be sufficient instead of an apt?
This is just to cash out, not to play...

Yes I am also interested if things are different for just cashouts -- not depositing and not playing

Obviously you don't know anything. There's plenty of people with dual citizenship, including myself.

Citizenship is irrelevant. Everything is based on residency.

So by simply having an apartment there, I can open a bank account with no issue correct?

Here is a quote from another OP. Even though it is FT I wouldn't be surprised if PS doesn't have the same. And, if you do play through a VPN and get caught then kiss your money goodbye--That's fraud.

Quote: Anyway, FYI, the message I get from the FullTilt cashier is that all U.S. cashouts are now temporarily frozen. But an assurance is made that deposits are safe. Also, please note that I (at least) am no longer able to use a VPN to connect to FullTilt if that connection is originating in any country other than my own. And I assume the way this is being done (by FullTilt) is to use its software to access an originating IP from the computer it is being run on. Because I can see no way FullTilt can be blocking every VPN IP individually. And I've tried dozens. End Quote

Is having a passport of another country + Bank account enough to get access to pokerstars funds?

Opening a bank account will largely depend on the country and even the individual bank within that country. All I am saying is that for the sites to allow you access to your funds and the games, all that matters is residence - not citizenship. I do not believe it should matter if you have a US bank account if you reside outside the US but that is speculation on my part. Steve?

Go back and read the first thread and the first paragraph--It basically says
that you have to send in documents of your lease and bank info.
