Hello 2+2. I am a member of the russian initiative group, which is engaged in the organization of poker players protest against 2016 VIP changes. Our group is led by storo08 - oldschool HU SNG/SPINnGO regular, it also includes high stakes players such as MAPA3MATuK(hyper sats/6maxSNG), SGrifon(NLH Cash) etc.


Many of you must have already heard that starting from 2016 PokerStars introduce the new conditions of the VIP-program, stating that it allegedly will enhance the poker ecology and let amateur players benefit from bonus programs and the game itself. Actually, it is not quite accurate. Or, rather, not accurate at all.

In reality, these changes in the system will lead to increased rake for regular players. They get less rakeback, consequently, the rake indirectly increases. In exchange for that, PokerStars will increase the payouts for Chromestars by 10%, which is equivalent to 30 cents a month, funny, ain't it?

So how exactly the poker ecology will be enhanced? We tried, we really tried to find the bright sides for recreational players... But failed. We failed to understand how the money, taken from the regulars, could possibly help the recreational players feel more comfortable at the tables. We are more likely to get a reverse effect: some of the regulars would go down the stakes, some of them, on the contrary, would put more focus on the quality of their game, and amateur players would start losing money even faster than before.

Changes that we see in PokerStars (games, promotions, rules, rake) since the change of ownership — it's a smooth transformation of poker from an intellectual kind of sports with gambling element into a funny roulette. And if we, players, don't take any measures and just become bystanders, in a couple of years we'll see on our monitors some slot-machines that no one can ever beat, instead of a sports game and challenge of minds and stamina.

And it doesn't matter now, who's amateur and who's professional — our favorite game turns into a bingo lottery right before our very eyes.


What measures we offer:
We believe that complete freezing of games at PokerStars and FTP is the only effective way of struggle in the given circumstances.


Why do we think we can win?
Precisely a year ago PokerStars have announced a rake increase, we conducted a strike, and some time after it the vast part of changes was canceled.

Well I say this is just a start. Its a taste of what will come for January and onward.

Then in January maybe its 1,000 players. Then feb maybe its 2,000.


This is just a warm-up for the bigger strikes that will occur if changes are not made.

You should also try contacting the 2 main competitors and ask them if they want to offer bonuses for players who will bring all their business to them starting Jan 1st for at least 1 month.
If a rep from 888 or whoever wants to post in this thread offering to send a bonus code to anyone who PMs them and increases their play on that site from Jan onwards.
To have another site get all the business will help Amaya understand what they are doing to them selves and do wonders for shares while giving the other site some reason to fix its bugs when they see just how much of a difference all the added play makes.
Many HS players or people with money in stars accounts will not put user name because if Amaya abuse TOS they can freeze accounts and funds under the bringing their name into disrepute or doing/taking part in action that can harm the company.
Bring a site that wants an influx of players from Jan 1st to the table, take the list of names you have to them and ask what they want to offer those players to bring more play to their site.

if the goal was to get rid of the good regs who are killing off the fish too quickly, you're kind of doing them a favour by boycotting the site for three days. wouldn't it be better to ddos them or something?

Well, if u ask me, either
1) S&G format at huge rake being a total spot machine w low winrate is killing these recs quicker, or
2) other games took a hit in recs amount, and regs lost a lot of winrate, dropped down in stakes (traffic is down for these other games, winrates are down).
I would say its both.
So if anything marketing S&G`s as hard as amaya does, and making anything that makes even less beatable formats and other exisitng games (more effective rake via VIP cuts, removing highstakes games etc) is only gonna do worse for recs losing their money even quicker.
Im not pulling this out of my head, its true Baazov said it himself via statistics recs lose money 40% quicker for last 12 months, since S&G games were introduced.
Get traffic up via right marketing of POKER, get something legit like televised cash games up, and you`ll get a bump for sure.
Dont just tighten things up via taking more money from industry quicker. Because otherwise it will be dead in 3 years time form now on.
