Re: HSBC (UK Bank) closing my account?!

HSBC closed my account in the end after a one hour "review" over the phone.

Would suggest anyone in UK who plays poker as their main source of income should look into having a backup account in case this happens to them as they couldn't really give a proper reason apart from some Account Conduct/T&C tosh. Guess they just don't like Poker Players/Gamblers...

Re: HSBC (UK Bank) closing my account?!

HSBC have locked my debit card before for depositing to Ladbrokes, gave them a phone and told them it was me who did it and not had any problems since. Will stick to Moneybookers/Stars for buying shares etc from now on

that is exactly what im doing and Mb is also regulated by the FSA , so there cant rise any complications if you do like this.

I would never bank direct to bank from a pokersites or cash out direct.

Worrying story about this issue, anyone involved in an account closure should keep solid records of everything that happens.

cliffs on article - incompetent clerk pays cheques into account in error, customer accused of fraud and blacklisted.

Re: HSBC (UK Bank) closing my account?!

Just saw this article and it's possibly the reason why HSBC are being extra cautious:
