April 16th 2016 I had traveled to Las Vegas specifically to play a $200 rebuy online qualifier on WSOP.com. There was one seat up for grabs, only 1st place got paid. I was playing on the Wifi provided by the Aria resort and casino, on a Saturday evening- which meant the system was overwhelmed and quite slow. While playing, several times I had to turn off wifi and use my mobile data (I played using my phone, one of many options they promote heavily). I don't know if you guys want a book about this so I will summarize and respond to questions(if that even happens). Okay, I get heads up and was a slight chip disadvantage by bout 1.5/1. First hand of heads up I get booted off wsop.com and a thing pops up saying that they cannot confirm my location to be in the state of NV and 3minutes go bye without the tournament being paused. In that time the other player was able to steal my blinds and antes giving him a 80-90% of my stack and also a free roll into the Main Event this summer. This is where it only gets worse. I have been tweeting my screen shots and reaching out to other players who might have had this happen to them. I have been told by a few respected players that their issues were resolved by refunding buy ins. I contact support and they have not helped or are willing to help. I fact they have now threatened me with legal action in an attempt to silence me. I guess I'm asking for help to get this message heard and to warn others that the wsop my not be the right place for online poker. Not sure what to expect but I feel like I'm being bullied and being silenced. I have screen shots for all this: lmk if you wanna see for yourself.

Pretty ****ty situation. I'd like to see how they threatened u with legal action

^ sorry can't help as I dunno how to upload pics either. what kind of compensation are you hoping to get? Buyin refunded obviously but I hope your not thinking you have a chance at them giving u a seat to the ME.

Geo location has been such a fail but I don't see why they can't implement some safeguards from booting players in the middle of a hand or tournament.

Obv not a 10k seat. Honestly just a "my bad" woulda gone a long way. They instead have told me that everything is my own fault. My point for this thread is only to inform others of what to expect when playing in the same situation.

Understood and I'm sure others will appreciate the headsup (no pun intended). Hopefully they make this right, admit fault, and give some sort of compensation here. I'd be interested to find out how/if this gets resolved. Good luck to ya

If something is true it can't be considered slanderous (or more accurately libelous) regardless of how broadly you post it. So, it appears that they are the ones trying to flat out bully you. I'd need to see your emails to be sure of that though.

Regulated poker doesn't seem to have done much to make poker sites treat players fairly.

This is outright disgusting. And that email is typed in an emotional defensive tone and If I were a CEO of that company I would sack them for there terrible customer service.

I have screen shots of me as chip leader on FT break, pics of 4handed, 3handed, and heads up b4 hand is felt and logged off. Also have several email I wouldn't mind posting if y'all want to see 'em. They also said that they closed my account today as I quote:
"At the moment, we have closed your WSOP.com online account in Nevada as it seems we would be unable to prevent further instances whereby a failure to geolocate on your end would be acceptable to you. Any funds in your account will be sent back to the account from which they originated, as per NV gaming regulations. In your case you have deposited cash via the cage so we will send a check for your remaining bankroll amount of $15.01 to the registered address on file." -end quote

I'm obv a newbie but that shouldn't in and of itself be enough to discredit my story. Please see @xkidkarlx Twitter handle as everything is there. I'm a new business owner running a cafe (6 months old) and don't have much free time. I will try and upload pics if I have time this afternoon.

the title is a bit misleading(most likely on purpose to get more attention) it seems to infer that you were purposely cheated when arriving to headsup either by the other player/the site/ or some combo of both. the fact is geolocation is **** and there are already multiple threads on how **** it is. should you receive some type of compensation because the sites both in nv and nj use the ****ty geolocation services and it screwed you? maybe. but based on other people losing big sums in cash games or at important stages of tournaments prior to this due to geolocation failing and receiving nothing does not look good for you.

Okay, so I'm not at all trying to get anything out of this thread, other than to warn ppl that are traveling to ply and might not know about the risks. I didn't know. I guess y'all are much more informed than I am so just go and kill this thread. I wasn't trying to be misleading in the title, sry.

I think this is an informative thread and would like to see more info. There are always going to be positive and negative responses online so don't worry about that part. Good luck if you pursue this.

I'm not even sure what that part means, I don't fully understand that part as I don't speak lawyer. I have not had any private conversations with anyone regarding this topic so your guess is as good as mine.

The answer wsop.com sent the op is so uncalled for and unprofessional. To think as they obviously do that op is trying to freeroll them and bully them into compensation is ludicrous and bodes bad for their business model. If they are providing this type of customer service it is easy to see why they have been such a little trafficked fail site.

Now had they sent him a response stating that their customer experience is a high priority and they will look into his issue and get back to him, that type of answer would create good will. Instead wsop.com is telling people to stay away from wsop.com because they don't value their customers and when things go wrong they will blame the customers instead of providing competent courteous customer service. On his twitter account customer rep followed up to tell him as he was told by a supervisor he will not be refunded im guessing for his buyin? I don't blame op for tilting after that.
