FullTilt -- This is ridiculous! Prohibiting Instant Messaging?!

Hey guys

I just got this out of another thread and wanted to get some opinions on this...

Are they ****ing serious with this??? I mean, come on... Prohibiting software like Sharkscope HUD, Sit'n'Go Wizard, whatever, seems fine to me, as long as they state what is allowed and what not.

But this? This goes way too far and is absolutely ridiculous, if this is legit?!

I don't wanna be banned for chatting with some friends while grinding out hands.

Discuss.

Hello,

Thank you for your email.

The use of any software or website that gives players an unfair advantage is not allowed. This includes the following types of software and websites:

* Those that calculate hand strength and make recommendations on betting actions during play or tournament end-game analyzers. While some poker programs are legitimate teaching tools, they can only be used while logged out of the Full Tilt Poker software.

* Those that contain statistics derived from hands in which you did not participate. However, programs or sites that track and analyze hands that you played are permitted.

* Instant messaging systems, including Windows Live Messenger and Google Talk, which allow players to share hole card information.

* "Bots", which are automated poker-playing programs that make decisions and execute actions.

Players who use prohibited software or websites on Full Tilt Poker may have their accounts permanently closed and their outstanding balance forfeited to compensate victims.

For more information on our policies about third-party software or website use on Full Tilt Poker, please visit: http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/prohibited_programs.php

Good luck at the tables, and if there's anything else we can assist you with, please contact us.

Regards,

Juha

I actually support it. I doubt they will ever implement such a ban, but it makes perfect sense to me

slow down with the paranoia. ftp isnt going to ban everyone who is talking on aim and playing at the same time, but reserves the right to ban people who are colluding through aim.

Next thing they'll ban you for picking up your phone? This just goes too far... I can see why they're saying this, but this is just ridiculous, even for FullTilt standards!

If this is true, I don't see why they should state that these programs are prohibited software. Collusion is obviously not prohibited already, why should they ban programs like that? This is just nonsense imo...

And what about sweat sessions or with a coach?? No point in emailing them they will give a garbage answer that doesn't answer the question and it will take a week to get it...

as long as your not sharing hole card info with someone else at your table there is no problem here.

I support this idea... I bet there are people that use IMs to cheat.

how exactly would FTP know if I am sharing hole card data through AIM (not that I would)? Can they read my instant messages?

Hey guys,
I just read a thread on 2p2 saying you guys now do not allow instant messenging software while playing on your site!! is this true? It seems absolutely ridiculous! if it is true, how do you find out? and what will you do about it? To be completely honest, if you didn't lose alot of customers when you banned datamining/sharkscope, you will after you implement this rule. Please don't do it.

if you support this idea you're a ****ing moron. prohibiting using a software like MSN/aim while you play is completely unacceptable as 99,5% of the people are just chatting with friends who most likely don't even play poker. if they start banning people for using aim while playing they are killing their own site.

Their current process appears to be to instaban anyone who trips some automated flags, or if some random donk spite-reports you as a cheater, then search for ANY EVIDENCE of activity that MAY be suspicious, and you are guilty until proven innocent, but you can't prove innocence because they refuse to give you any details.

While they (maybe) won't ban you for IM use alone, you are taking the risk that you might inadvertently trip one of their flags and then be screwed.

IMHO it is touchingly naive to risk your account and possibly your money on the fact that they MIGHT ignore your IM software use, if they feel like it.
