Re: Everleaf hates winning players too
I am the manager of Meteor Poker (one of Everleaf's skins) and I want to tell the poker community that we don't like those new rules as well. Unfortunately there is not much we can do about it.
I have addressed this issue to Everleaf's management and have lobbied for the removal of this rule, just like I did when the ratings were introduced. I think that poker players should not be rated or limited when it comes to choosing their opponents, but we are only a skin in a network and we must obey to the rules.
Although I don't agree with such solutions, I can tell you that there are strong reasons behind the introduction of this rules (as it was explained to me by Everleaf's staff), and they only did what they had to in order to protect the Network liquidity.
Sometimes sharks must take a break from feeding with the fish, to let them reproduce and multiply. If sharks eat all the fish, we may end up with an empty ocean.
The same applies in poker. There are skins that work hard to bring fresh players into online poker by investing in offline advertising, and other similar things. If their players lose their money too quick, those skins end up losing and stop bringing new fish.
In order for winning poker players to be able to win, there must always be new fish, and those who bring the fish want some sort of protection, in order to be able to stay afloat.
I hope that my comments would help you better understand the situation. Sometimes we are forced to accept things that we don't like, in order to protect our ecosystem.

Re: Everleaf hates winning players too
In order for there to be fish there must be sharks. Why do you think people play poker? Oh right you think that they are playing simply because they like to gamble. Here's a thought for you to ponder. Why do thousands of girls try and be miss america, why do millions of kids spend hours on the basketball court practicing their jump shots every day for hours? There are lots of reasons, yes these activities are fun for some people just like poker is, but the one that you site operators are blind too is the affect of the ability of a few successful people (miss america winner, nba player, poker shark) to inspire the masses. Is every little girl who tries going to become Miss America? Is every boy going to make it to the NBA bc he spends every spare moment on the basketball court? Absolutley not but the masses see the huge money and the fame associated with these activities and they are willing to try.
If site operators inact measures to limit sharks to winning small amounts we will certainly limit the number of people who are willing to throw countless hours at playing poker. Sure you may have a very small percentage of gamblers who will gamble regaurdless but if you do this at the expense of losing the 80pct of players who fall in the middle of the bell curve you are going to cost yourself millions of dollars in revenue. These kids grinding away 10hrs a day at 12 tables at 50nl aren't going to be inspired to do so if Durrrrr makes $1k a week next year. We need the sharks, they are a major reason the bulk of people play poker (even losing players).
Not only do we need some sharks we need lots of sharks. Why? Lots of sharks inspire lots of new players. If we knew that only 5 people would beat poker for 100k+ next year how many would give up (I know I would)? Now imagine the number of people inspired to play if there are 500 people who are going to make over 100k, how about 5000, or 50,000 pros winning large amounts. Thats the kind of thing that can truly inspire millions to play and in the process site operators get rich.

I have no idea if you're actually who you say you are. (hopefully the mods will look into it)
But THIS is very scary if true.
It's one thing to protect the fish. It's a completely different story if it's to "protect liquidity."

This.
Biggest shark on everleaf is the ridiculous rake.
Rake is crushing fish harder than any number of sharks.

I'm thinking/hoping he used that word incorrectly - he says liquidity, but then goes on to describe something completely different. That account is banned for now, but hopefully he'll go through the proper authorization process for that account or another one and clarify.

This would be no problem if the grinders didn't leave the sites once they had fished out the waters; but as it is you would simply move on to another site and fish out that and continue doing this until there were no sites left to grind at or the competition became to hard.
If the limit is €750/week I really can't see a problem with this site. That would be about 3k/month (39k/year) which is more then you would need to be content. You would simply run up this in a few days, not play for the rest of the week (hopefully doing something else then poker these days) and then return next week to do the same.
I've told you this before, you are destroying your own source of income with the insane grinding and you will eventually destroy the poker economy if you are given total freedom to go about whatever you want to do. The sites simply protect themselves and you from your destructive behavior.
|
except there is no way that you can make $750 week in week out
it will be more like week 1: lose $120
week 2: lose $100
week 3: lose $700
week 4: heater! still can't make up for the first three weeks losses because of $750 cap
so on weeks that you would usually make $1,000 and come out ahead for the month you're cut off from playing
why would one make more on one week than another? think holidays, when fish are plentiful and drunk... they're cutting off your most profitable times to play

Youare correct, I used the word incorrectly. I don't know why my account was banned as I didn't receive any email from the admins to give an explanation. I opened a new one in order to be able to respond and clarify the things. Too much censorship here ruins the discussion...
When I said liquidity I meant the player liquidity. If certain skins who bring in the fish will move to other network or will go bankrupt, there will be less players. That's all I meant. Hope no more missinterpretations now.
