Eurolinx and Betonbet down almost a year . ACTION NEEDED!!!

Excuse me if my Englisch isnt perfect. Im from Holland and trying my best.

Dear friend and victims of Betonbet and/or Eurolinx,

August 21st 2009. Eurolinx and Betonbet (Linx Media Group) put ther business into liquidation. They then said thewould give updates about the appointed liquidators. Today we still dont know anything. Microgaming isnt responding either.

On August 21st i lost 140k. I kept pretty quiet untill now. We need some ACTION. I try to give some options and reasons why we should try it. The more victims join, the better!

As i talked to an attorney in an unofficial way, here are some things which might give us some hope. The thing is that we probably never see any money when we focus on Eurolinx or Betonbet. Thats why we need to focus on Microgaming.

Points the attorney said which gives us some nice advantage against Microgaming:

1. Microgaming has the right (as they did with Eurolinx and Betonbet) to close skins on there network or remove them (like they also did with the Tusk case). That right they take to close skins also give them a certain responsibility for the skins on their network.
2. In 2003 they co-founded ECogra e-Commerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance but new sites can join Microgaming even while they say that they don't wanna join Ecogra. Thats very very doubtfull. Why even start with ecogra if its a choice to join. In 2006 Eurolinx joined Microgaming and mr. Jo Remme said he was not willing to join Ecogra. Microgaming didnt even asked why???
3. When Eurolinx joined Microgaming, they said they were licensed in Curacao at the Curacao Interactive Licensing N.V . Nobody knows this company. And Microgaming didnt even checked? Lets ask Microgaming for the papers that Eurolinx gave to them. Very strong point for us.
Curacao based companies in the gamingindustry are licensed by Curacao Internet Gaming Association (CIGA).
4. Betonbet was licensed by the LGA in Malta. They started an investigation, which is now in hands of the police.
5. Many players mailed to Microgaming that they didnt receive any money. Months before August 2009. Why did Microgaming did wait so long before taking this action??
6. How can Microgaming say that they are in the same position as the players while they close the skins themselves.

IMO and of the attorney some very strong point to take some action on Microgaming.

I am willing to take the lead in this but i need help from u guys.
Im gonna open an internetadres www.wewantourmoney.com
Then we also need someone who can make this website running. Im sure one of the victims can do this.
Then we offcourse have to need money for an attorney who can get our money back, or at least a part of it.

Lets go guys let me hear u!!!!!

I think some of these points are good. My question is in what jurisdiction can you sue Microgaming? Isle of Man is where they are, so it seems like that's where you'd have the most luck in going after them.

With the amount of money that was lost I will admit I've been surprised how quickly this has gone away over the last year. I always did think though that if you want to rip off a group of people make sure that group of people are online poker players and there won't be any real consequences. So many scammers out there and none have ever had any consequences at all.

From the facts i hear now there is just a reasonable change that we will get (some) money back. I think its worth a try.

Re: Eurolinx and Betonbet down almost a year . ACTION NEEDED!!!

Microgaming has to have a clearinghouse or something to transfer money between MG poker rooms, right? That has to add to their liability here.

I lost ~$9800, quite a bit for an NL100 player. About 4 hours before the Eurolinx software went offline, I had won ~$750 and logged off. Where is that money? Who's money was I playing poker with 4 hrs before the site went down if Eurolinx went busto? Are you telling me Microgaming took the $750 I won that night from players from different poker rooms on the network, and just sent it to the Eurolinx account?

And let's not forget that Eurolinx Lydia became Microgaming Lydia like 4-5 months before Eurolinx went under. If she saw the writing on the wall and went to work for the parent company, Microgaming...MG HAD to know something was up. People were already complaining about late payments at this point.

I think this is the key. At the time I made some private investigation and it seemed to me that this so called "Curacao Interactive Licensing N.V ." just doesn't exist at all.

If this is true it means, that Eurolinx simply NEVER had a proper license, and I think this alone can be enough for a Court to find Microgaming liable.

Jurisdiction and usable law (not the same things) are also not easy to answer questions, maybe we should look for a law firm in england and try to have a contract of mandate with them based mostly on succes fee if possible.

anyway, if there is any common action I am in, and I am willing to pay a share of the costs.

Re: Eurolinx and Betonbet down almost a year . ACTION NEEDED!!!

I won 6k on thursday the 20th and about 30k in the 2 weeks before they went down. As far as i know there were no payments to anybody in those last weeks.
The guys who wanna join in action please pm me and we try to find a lawyer in the UK.
I also think a contract with him on succes fee is the best.

No, thats the sickest part. This case stinks. If Microgaming was that innocent and also expecting money out of the liquidation proces, u think they would accept there still isnt a liquidator. Who has or were is the money some of us won in the last days?? Jo Remme probably has the most of the money, but the profits of the last days he cant have.

There are some things that will be sorted out when we hire a lawyer.
At least we know wtf happened there and im sure Microgaming will have a pretty bumpy ride.

Re: Eurolinx and Betonbet down almost a year . ACTION NEEDED!!!

I hope this takes off and some legal actions against microgaming are persued. Laws and such arent my area of expertize or anything, but I too find it very dodgy that eurolinx would be able to operate on the microgaming network without having to supply them with proper papers in terms of license and identification. Just think about all banks and e-wallets etc requiring such documents from each and every customer, and are required to do so by laws and regulations.

As for the site, I might know some people that can help out with the construction of it. What info did you plan to put on it besides the background of the story maybe? Microgaming sure deserve to have a lot of bad publicity coming to them for their way of handling things.

Over two and a half years now with a liquidator and still no resolution to the Tusk fiasco. A year now and nothing at all done about Eurolinx/Betonbet. Microgaming is scum. They should be rogued by every poker affiliate and on every poker forum. I wish you the best but I fear you are just going to be throwing good money after bad.

There's the pitch.

Who are you?

Who can vouch for you?

I'd hate to see the Eurolinx victims get scammed a second time by someone who takes in money up front by raising false hopes and then disappears.

I was a player at Betonbet. They sponsored me because i was one of the players with the most rake. I lost 140k because of the bankruptcy.
I talked to Jo Remme a few times which made me know this case stinks.
He told me that they didnt have the player funds in decent account but that they did some investments with it which ended up pretty bad because of the credit crunch.

Good luck jokotokolino & co! I sure hope you succeed and that the networks would then have to keep an eye on their sites.

I have the feeling we are getting stronger every day.

When the Tropika group failed in 2001, Microgaming paid - see the Microgaming to pay all Tropika players thread from Winneronline.

When Goodfellas Casino failed, Microgaming paid - see the Goodfellas thread at Winneronline.

A lot of info about Microgaming, Tusk and Betonbet at this link.
