My PokerStars account was compromised My PokerStars account was compromised

Hi guys,

I recently was devastated to learn that my poker account got hacked. Have been up and down in my account but after busting out a few months ago grinder my account up to around 2k. I logged on this morning to find 15c in my account. Turns out from the audit someone had logged in the day before and spent all the balance on shitty little casino games.

Pokerstars verifies that the account was hacked and an IP address used was foreign to my account and never used to log in before and in a country different to the one I am in(it’s lockdown no ones going anywhere atm)

Wondered if anyone had any suggestion or anything on the matter.

PLZ change the title of your thread into "My account at PS was hacked": I was really worried because I thought that PS was hacked; "(un)fortunately" it was only your account.

You are probably out of luck. It is your responsibility to ensure that your account is secure.

You should run a virus/malware and change all passwords.

^ that

Get 2FA to log in, don't leave excessive amounts on poker sites, depositing quickly to reputable sites is easy so you don't need to keep 982346703 buyins online nowadays

I don't think that would be accurate either, until we get more info about this "hacking".

I'm a bit of a stickler for how that term is used, as it can cause confusion as you have alluded to.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, I don't think that's what they verified, even if they say it is. If they're suggesting someone else logged into your account, that could have happened any number of ways. Hacking may have had nothing to do with it.

Definitely. Try to find out what happened, because this is important to your own security.

Did the thief change your password, or were they able to log in using your existing password? Do you use the same password on multiple sites? Have you clicked on any suspect links recently?

Have you run a virus/malware scan on your computer recently? If not, you should.
