They just sent out an email to the affiliate marketers with some information (not much). Here is the important info:

Quote:
We are excited to announce that, as of February 15, our partnered brands Bovada and Bodog will be launching their product offerings in Latin America.

Bovada Sports and Casino will be available in Mexico only while Bodog Poker, Casino, and Sports will launch in the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.
They also adjusted bonuses at Bodog a few days ago, likely in preparation for this new Latin American push. What does this mean?

1) Bodog currently is only for Canadians, so it will be expanding quite a bit.
2) Bodog already shares player pools with US players on Ignition, it is unlikely that this will change.
3) Latin America is not nearly as well off as North America financially speaking. The people that are likely to join from Latin America will probably have a larger proportion of micro and small stakes players in the mix.
4) Bodog Network is likely to become a top 3 network on Pokerscout again (listed as Ignition currently).

***UPDATE*** (Feb 9/16)

No bull****.

Bodog Poker Network was bought out by a Hong Kong investment group. That is why there have been changes recently (they introduced new casino bonuses... in Spanish and Portuguese), the expansion to the 8 new Latin American countries, etc.

I'm thinking we should call it PWL network. PWLPN seems awkward and PPN is already taken.

Sounds to me more like you'll be able to open a Bodog account on the 15th if you can prove residency in Mexico, but I'd check with the site before doing that.

But now that I've said that, I'm not sure how it works for Americans when they come to Canada currently - I'd expect it will be the same here.

Americans in Canada have to open and play on a Bodog account. They can often get away with it for a little while (say on a vacation), but security inevitably shows up and lets them know it's not a long-term solution.

I would expect things to be the same for Ignition and Bodog moving forward.

Hello,

Can someone please point me in the right direction...

I have a Canadian Bodog a/c. Missed the boat on the ignition switch in Sept. Bodog support # is out of service (Im guessing since sept 30th).
Spoke with Ignition and they cant/wont help.

I can still log in and play. Bitcoin withdrawal seems available but it wont accept my mother maiden name which I obviously know. Strange...

My options?

Thanks in advance.

Ignition is a US-only site - makes perfect sense to me.

I mean, I guess in an ideal world they'd have a way to allow you to play from your Ignition account in the few other countries where they offer poker, but I don't know how practical that is. Deposit and cashout options would be different on each site due to what's available in each country, they may have slightly different T&Cs, etc. Probably much easier for them to have you open a new account when you move.

I'd suggest reposting this here:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...179-a-1142716/

And being a little more clear on what you're looking for. It sounds like you need to figure out the cashout thing first, and then open a new Ignition account, but I'm not positive if that's what you're looking to do (assuming you've moved back to the US?). But again, the general Bodog thread is what you're looking for - your question really doesn't have anything to do with this thread.

Edit to add: And I agree with kahn's post below if you're just a confused Canadian.

Bodog players still play on Bodog. Only Bovada players, i.e. Americans, were swapped to Ignition. You can still play poker on Bodog.

Well, whatever options are offered in Canada/Bodog right now probably won't apply to Latin American countries. For example, Skrill and Neteller do not accept gambling transactions in Canada, and thus are not available on Bodog. My personal opinion is not to expect them in Latin America either, but I don't think that there is any legal impediment.

I'm 99.99999% sure that bitcoin will continue to be an option, and the most pushed one at that. It is simply the future of offshore poker.

I expect to see a number of local options and Latin Specific payment options, but no details have been released as of yet. And I, like a moron, did not go to London this week or I could ask their marketing reps in person right now

Kahn, do you think it likely that they would enter the Australian market if all the other major sites were forced to pull out (due to the impending legislation changes)?

They pulled most products from Europe what... 3+ years ago? I don't think it likely given the current state of affairs in Europe.

The penalties in Australia are rather onerous, assuming that bill passes I mean. I'm not sure they would risk the exposure. Back before there were all those issues in the Philippines offices (see CalvinAyre stories for details) Bodog88 serviced Asia. But after those issues, Bodog88 dramatically reduced the number of countries serviced.

Now, there is an Australian gambling brand, but it's not named according to the Bodog themes and I've heard nothing about them wanting to step into the poker arena with said brand.

I do expect some of the other offshore poker sites that service Americans to step up and offer their services in Australia if that legislation comes to fruition, but not all of them. I think a lot of it has to do with factors that most people don't consider:

1) Location of shell companies
2) Banking and processor locations
3) Where owners of said companies might wish to travel and/or own property without risk of prison

Cool. Other countries allowed. US allowed, but NY still banned. Amazing.

How bad does NY have them by the balls? What happened to make them so scared to operate in NY

Seems like bad news for higher stakes no limit players (5/10 and 10/20nl), right? Looks like a lot of poor countries that can't afford those stakes- with Costa Rica standing out as especially bad because of how many good 5/10+ pros live/play from there.

playing 5/10+ on bovada/ignition is just begging to get cheated

it will def boost liquidity at the lower levels. its is probably the best thing that can happen to any network is to gain latin america but not eastern europe, no way this is bad news

Presumably you live in Europe, because that's the only reason for wanting such a change.

They spelled colOmbia wrong. Why does everyone always do that!!

The guy above in Mexico it says only sports and casino in Mexico no poker.
And regarding the high stakes guys in Costa Rica. I'm sure most are Americans anyhow and if they wanted to they would already be playing on ignition right now. The new market looks good. Excited to see what happens

Bovada is sports/casino only in Mexico. Bodog appears to be SP+CA+Poker.
