these foreign checks take weeks to clear, by cashing them you are arousing suspicion regardless of the dollar amount.

and fyi the reason bodog doesnt want people to go to tellers is because when nosy tellers ask questions about the check idiots give them information they shouldnt.atms can't ask questions.
basically don't go to a teller means don't be a ****ing idiot with the check.

The ones from up north are hit and miss for ATMs, but if they only have 8 numbers in the routing number, probably just go inside the bank.
This is interesting to me. Don't have access to the check currently obv but prolly could get a copy of it.

Def think about it in the future.

So for the people who have had tellers ask what the check is for, what do you say? I'm assuming you can just make up a lie like "i did some freelance web consulting work for a company over seas". Do banks even have the right to ask what it's for? I'm considering opening up a bank of america account just for poker, because I'm almost certain my small town bank would get really suspicious and investigate if i tried to cash an international check.

Yes I have an account there, I opened one a couple of weeks ago. Also I am friends with the bank manager, and my GF is one of the bank managers closest friends fwiw.
I've gotten instructions from Bovada telling me to deposit the check and NOT cash it. I mean your GF works at the bank, hand it to her and have her deposit it like normal to your account.

Cashing it seems super shady, especially with you being a new account and I'm guessing the balance in your account, at the time, was less than the check. It's not hard to see why alarm bells went off.

They can ask any question they'd like. It would certainly be within your rights to decline to answer the question, however I don't recommend that.

Small banks seem to cause people the most problems. So having an account at a major, national bank makes sense.

I do have an account there but it's not my regular bank so depositing is a hassle but obv looks like it would have been better, just fwiw.

The rest of your assumptions are correct. But apparently 100% of foreign checks get sent off to their HQ. I really doubt that anything will come of this, but obv I'll report itt so others can hopefully learn from it.

do you guys look for the tracking number in your email or your bovada messages on the website. Because they don't send it to the email they send it in the messages.

try atm first, some won't work with the atm machines
if atm doesnt work take it to the teller

I requested a check from Bovada a few weeks ago and got it within 7 days. Tried to deposit it via mobile app, wouldn't work. Tried to deposit it at the atm, wouldn't work. I finally took it to the teller, who called the manager over. The manager looked at the check and said they couldn't take it but wouldn't tell me why, only that they wouldn't take it (I actually worked as a teller for a while at this bank and know for a fact that it is perfectly ok for them to do this). The check was written from an account at said bank, so this had me a bit concerned. Regardless, I took it to my other bank...same exact issues. I called Bovada support and they said they could stop the payment and allow me to withdraw via WU. I agreed. A few days later I get an email from Bovada asking me to send them proof that the check was denied. I explained that I already spoke with support over the phone and they told me the check was cancelled and that the money would show up in my account within 5-10 days. They say ok we see that now, we'll email you to confirm later. (At this point I've been told 2X that the check was being cancelled and the money was going to be returned to my account). They email me later saying that I need to send proof that the check was denied. I again had to explain the situation.

I have now emailed back and forth with them 14 times (and counting) trying to explain that my bank won't write a letter explaining why they wouldn't accept the check. Every single email they send says the same exact thing...we need you to send us a letter from your bank explaining why they won't take the check.

Fwiw one of the banks is a local credit union, so it's understandable that they wouldn't take the check (although I have cashed checks there before from Bovada). The other is an extremely large bank that you all know (and is one of the banks Bovada has accounts with and writes checks from).

The best I've gotten out of support is to open up another bank account at a bank that accepts international checks (LOL). I am not going to open up a new bank account just to try to deposit an international check from an online gaming company that has told me 2X that they already stopped the payment. At this point I'm scared to even try to deposit it at my banks again because of it bouncing/potentially making things really awkward with my bank. The check isn't for life changing money or anything and I fully expect to just eat the loss, but I just thought I should inform you guys of what might happen if you play here and try to cash out via check.

I started at Bovada 3 months ago. Ive cashed out 2x. the first arrived promptly from an offshore account that was routed through a bank in NY. It went through in one day after depositing straight into my account. The teller was nosy, but i didnt reveal the true activity from which the funds were generated. I lied. The second was not so smooth, it arrived promptly yes, but from a different country with a routing outside the US. They took the check (again after asking what it was, again a lil white lie) but made it clear i would not get any credit until this second bank pays up. Will re-post when the money goes through.

I cant actually believe people who are posting in this thread about checks. You must be trolls/shills. You emailed 14 times? CALL THEM. You lied when depositing check? Your whole post makes 0 sense. Please dont update us because they dont bounce. If they do bovada will send u an email saying dont deposit it because of X reasons!

Just requested 7500$ payout from bovada via wire transfer, had a problem with the swift code on the form and called them up, the lady was very helpful and submitted the payout request herself over the phone for me, seems to go very smooth.

Just called up DHL and asked them to see if I had any packages coming. They found it by looking up my name and address. They said it will be here on Monday.

Hopefully they don't "accidentally process it as a check" without you having any idea. I would call up once it gets approved and make sure everything is in order.
