What an awesome day for me on Bovada today, I just had to share. I'm also so glad football is back. I made a few bets for my first time, and I'm very excited. Nighty night everyone

you really just need to deposit once with WU/MG to make sure that you will 100% have those options for later cashouts....

people spread a lot of rumors and misinformation on 2+2...that said, there is no denying there are people who've been allowed to cashout through WU that have never used it for a deposit.
HOWEVER, to avoid any potential issues/problems or he-said-she-saids with Bovada support, I *highly* recommend just making a simple small deposit through WU/MG the next time your at your local grocery store.

this is the best way to insure you will have these options for cashing out at a later date....besides Bovada charges a significant fee of 5% on CC deposits anyways and I believe they reimburse you for WU deposits(don't hold me to this).

good luck! bovada rocks

yeah contact Bovada support...they have a real toll-free phone number and poker department that will help walk you through the process of making a WU deposit.

also make sure you use their first time deposit bonus because Bovada does not offer much in terms of rakeback/VIP deals....so its crucial that new players take full advantage of their first time deposit bonus offer. i'd deposit whatever you can afford to spare if you plan to play a significant amount because of these reasons.

good luck

haha well done man! ....yes thats definitely a unique situation so I understand why you are asking now.

would be stupid to have to deposit just so you could withdraw your winnings so I'd definitely check with Bovada on this one...i know you said you dont have a bank account but right now their checks are flying out(less than 2 weeks from request to money in hand).

Seeing as how US banks are not allowed to cash checks specifically from online gambling, yet all gambling income must be reported to the IRS (with the potential for an audit), do yall still report online gambling income on your yearly taxes? Wouldnt that throw up red flags to the IRS or Gov for illegal activity? How do people avoid scrutiny from the IRS, etc? Im sure there is a way to do it all by the books and legal, I just dont know it. Or are we now in a constant grey area? Thanks.

The fees for WU are listed in the cashier and you do not get them back. I'm also certain they are more then 5%.

You can, however, get one free check per month.

It is not illegal to win money playing poker at a casino or online.

It is illegal to evade paying your taxes.

There is no grey area here.

The fact that US banks do not want to be involved with cashing poker checks because of UIGEA is irrelevant to you or your legal responsibility to pay federal taxes on any money you earn.

Just pay your taxes and you dont have to worry about "avoiding scrutiny".

Just as a side, to be honest, even if you were selling heroin, the IRS couldnt care less, they want their money if you are making it.

Not entirely true:

Are you required to report "illegal income" on your tax return?

If anybody was actually dumb enough to send in a list of his swag for the year, the folks at the IRS say they'd promptly alert the appropriate authorities.

What I don't really understand about it is, Bodog clearly doesn't give a **** about the USA's laws, so why are they choosing to respect certain state laws in such bizarre ways O_o
Maybe if Bharara and his team catch wind of it, it could blow up into a big deal and lead to trouble?
Even if the banks just had to pay big fines, then the wrath would trickle down...

If its illegal for banks to cash checks from online gambling, is it not illegal for a player to have that income? I am not tryin to get OUT of paying taxes on my earnings, I am merely trying to figure out if it is illegal one way or the other. Obviously I would just report it as gambling income and not specify the source, but if I were to be audited, the source MIGHT have to be disclosed, yes? Can yall see where I am going with that or am I being paranoid? LOL.

No. The short answer is that playing US online poker is legal. What the UIGEA does is stop banks and financial institutions in the USA from processing payments for online gambling activities. There are still other payment methods you can use to go around this and the USA poker sites listed above offer these deposit options. The allegations against Full Tilt and PokerStars are that they forced or tricked banks into processing these payments in defiance of the UIGEA.

It's only explicitly illegal for the banks.

Can't see where you're going, as it just seems like you don't want to pay taxes.

Why wouldn't you just read the UIGEA yourself and some articles on it yourself instead of going off 2nd-hand information in a forum.

he specifically said that hes not trying to avoid taxes lol come on

the fact is the info is skewed and meant not to b clear imo.....otherwise why would they hide it in the "ports security act"

i would suggest putting the taxes from winnings in another account or something i dunno

also its only illegal from what i read for the gambling entities to "knowingly" accept bets/wagers that use the net

I AM NOT WANTING TO AVOID TAXES!!! Clear?

If a bank is OK with cashing checks from online gambling then fine, thats on them. I just want to make sure that extra income that I have to report on my taxes doesnt come back and bite me in the ass. If the actual PROFIT from online gambling is not illegal then great, but it seems as though if its illegal for a bank to cash a check from online gambling, it would taint the money.
