LT22, 2 things:
1) why do you think so many of these checks are being returned weeks after deposit?
2) you should post more ITT

Can't say for certain without more info, e.g. the routing number to verify if they're truly international. I think we could easily get to the bottom of the issue if reputable posters had private conversations about the details.

I said it was bad advice that every player that ever has an ATM not accept a check instantly return it to the poker site without even trying to cash it.

What part of that are you disputing?

I stand by everything I said in that post obviously.

ATMs reject checks all the time. This does not mean its a bounced check.

Your check bouncing and your subsequent rant about it really has nothing to do with anything I said.

I thought someone said they did, but it wasn't recent and I didn't believe him.

OK here is the story with that major US bank we were talking about that I just learned. If you have >$5k total in outstanding int'l checks they can send it to collections. This is what happened to me. I had a $3k check go to collections, because a $3k check i had deposited a week or 2 before (even though funds were available in my acct) hadn't cleared yet. May be worth depositing in multiple banks if you get a bunch from up north within a few weeks

Well, I've never been one to try and dodge taxes, but in the past I've only deposited maybe 500-600 over one full year. Obviously if my bank were to start flying accusations I'd say I planned on reporting the income.

I personally deposit Bovada checks in my credit union account. I also have a bank account. Both accounts have been active for many years (okay, decades, but I'm old -- what can I say), so I am a veteran customer. Consequently, I assume I would have less explaining when a check bounces. I have never had a check bounce (one that I've written or deposited). Frankly, it is annoying having to be concerned in that way. I deposited my last check on Friday the 30th and haven't heard anything yet. I figure 2 more weeks and I'll be home free.

I guess it is just a different world now regarding online poker and the uncertainty just comes with the territory.

Mel
Yeah this whole process is so painful and I'm the type to really worry a lot so I'm done with online poker after this whole thing is over.

My plan of action at this point is to scan the letter my bank sent me (they did not send me the check. Said I could have my check back with some explaining) and also take screen shots of my online bank statements showing the bouncing and my overdraft/credit line fees involved. I've seen others in the thread say bovada isn't happy until they get everything and then some, so I'm kinda worried about that, but I guess I'll post an update to see if I actually get away with not sending in a copy of the rejected check with an 'official statement of rejection'

My poker buddy just got back from california and wanted to hang and play some live poker during the holiday season. Can you say worst timing ever?

Hawkeye:

Another thing I've been doing is trying to withdraw small checks -- basically $150-$450. Once again, less hassle if the check bounces, it would seem (but one check per month to deposit).

Unlike many here, I am not a high stakes player anyway.

They are INSISTING I have the bank letter of an official reason why the check was declined. I feel sketch to keep pushing my bank about this check. I think I'll submit their asses a bull**** letter. Tired of this

Seems like a reasonable request tbh. Why not just ask them, it would take 20 seconds.

Or you could forge a fake letter from bank, cant see that giving you any problems.

To be honest, almost every (maybe all?) banks send a letter and the check back to you when it bounces. Have fun forging a letter when you don't know the exact bank lingo of why the check bounced. For example, account closed versus refer to maker.

Rdbaron, mind sending me a pm of a copy of your banks official letter if you get one? Or any other guys on this forum that have had success? Haha

Unfortunately mine is holding the check until I ask for it back, at which point I'm sure they'll ask something

When a check you deposit bounces, major banks will send you a copy of the check with explanation letter within a few days automatically. This copy of the check is what bodog wants.

I have the check. I went to the bank and they handed it to me. I called branch manager and supposedly should have a letter coming my way. Could have used a legit check for holiday shopping

I sent my bank letter and the scanned copy of the check stating why it was refused. Bovada credited my account for the full refund that same day and any charges that I incurred (foreign transaction fee, NSF fee..everything). I am just hoping the replacement checks are from the east as I have never had a problem with those.

I may just start taking the wu method and paying the extra fees to avoid the hassle of waiting for the checks pending on how this round goes.

All I can say is be patient and Bovada will do right by correcting the problems.

Okay well just a follow up from yesterday, I deposited my check from Ontario, Canada with a 9 digit routing number that was in $ US Funds without any problems at my banks ATM. I will report back if it bounces.

3k check from the north. deposited it last week into my CU and they had to send it to their foreign check dept. my CU didn't give me any of the funds until it was drawn from the place up north.

it cleared today, so i'm assuming it's all good now.

Has bovada fixed this "bouncing checks" issue? What's the turn around time for checks now? Thanks!
