Question re: holding BTC medium/long term. Should I keep my BTC in a blockchain wallet, coinbase wallet, coinbase vault, or set up something else?
I don't plan on holding an amount large enough to warrant going paperless, like >$20k, but want to protect against unknown shenanigans (like coinbase going down or something ??).

I'm doing my own reading to gain a better understanding of the BTC environment but wanted to see what do you guys in this thread who hold BTC do? Are their better alternatives than eg holding 10k in blockchain or coinbase?

Hey- has anyone withdrawn from Bovada (not ignition) recently? I went on a heater in BJ and wanted to see if the speeds are the same as Ignition in regards to bitcoin

Other than Coinbase, what other wallets are currently available to purchase BTC using my Visa today? Seems like I have a $50 limit on purchases here. MY method is Coinbase --> Block

use localbitcoins and cash deposit into someones bank they will ship you the coins. There will be a vig but for higher amounts its not bad.

It's entirely based on your risk tolerance. Personally, I would not feel comfortable keeping that much money on blockchain.info, or any other web based or desktop wallet. Most people generally advise against storing your bitcoins on an exchange. However, it's likely a decent option for certain people who would rather hand off responsibility for securing their funds rather than learning how to do it themselves. If you're fine with Coinbase having control over your money, as any bank would, then you can go that route. If it's important for you to have full control over your private keys, then you shouldn't store it on an exchange.

Ultimately, investing ~$100 in a hardware wallet is what I would recommend. Although, finding a hardware wallet in stock is difficult at the moment.

Control your own keys. Don't leave them on an exchange.

Especially with coin base going down 3+ times a week. Something isn't right. A good companies website isn't going to consistantly crash multiple times a week.

With bitcoin debit card can you go from blockchain to debit card? Or do you need to do coinbase first?

Increase the Blockchain miners' fee to priority. After sending, don't worry if bitpay states fee was too low. It will confirm in a timely manner.

Thank you!

Still waiting on my bitcoin 12 hours in.

What is the best way to get a large amount of money with the bitpay debit card?

ATM is twice a day at 1k max?

Stores only offer 200$ (Aldi) cash back?

Any other way?

See bitpay site. I thought it was ~ $750/max ATM, ~ $2250 ATM/day. I believe you can go into a bank and withdraw a larger amount with your card. Call card Customer Service for details. GL.

Here is what i have found over time to get the most bang for ur buck, in getting cash off of the bitpay card:

1. ATM METHOD

most atms have limits of 500ish or smaller per transaction, but u can do multiple transactions per day obv. Apparently the atms u find using the following page will not charge an additional fee when using the bitpay card, so you would only pay the $2 fee to bitpay, not the atm:
https://www.moneypass.com/atm-locator.html

2. CASH ADVANCE METHOD

u can go into most banks/credit unions and do a "cash advance" for free (u just pay the same $2 to bitpay) and get 750 at a time. this is better than the atm method, unless u find an atm which doesn't charge a fee and also gives 750 per transaction, in which case it's the same. more info here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...ostcount=22304

3. WALMART VISA CARD UNLOAD

Of the three methods, this one is the best. u can go into walmart and get "cash back" off of debit cards, up to 1k at a time, for a $3 charge (w/o buying anything). i don't think bitpay assesses a fee with this method - i think it just looks to them like a purchase. u go to the "money center" if they have one or just the customer service desk to get this done. i think they're only supposed to do one of these per card per day, but I think u could do more with some creativity.

all three of these methods are different transaction types (although with bitpay they seem to lump atm transactions and cash advance aka over the counter transactions (1. and 2. above), together). u should be able to get more out in a day using a combination of these three, in the event that you want to pull out more than 3k/day.

just requested a btc withdrawl yesterday, took 11 hours to get the money. longest wait ive had recently is 2-3 days but at that time everyone else posting here seemed to be recieving their payouts in the same timeframe. why its taking so long for you? they might be reviewing your play before they pay you out

They definitely do. I just got a max withdrawal a few days ago within 12 hours, paid out at 2606/BTC, right before the price crashed to 2200ish. Fun stuff. Luckily I held onto it and sold at 2550, but it still sucks.

I have been on a sick heater this month, but they paid me out multiple times this month fine. All max withdrawals and no problems, don't really understand why it's taking them so long this time. Still hasn't been processed, I guess I'll call again today.
