OK, I'm going to soon start doing BTC.

I plan to do:

Igintion -> Blockchain Wallet -> Coinbase -> Bank

Now, starting from total scratch, what do I do.

Do I first go to Blockchain (is it blockchain.com) and set up a wallet?
Or do I do Coinbase first (is it coinbase.com)?

Mel (totally new to all this)

The wallet is at Blockchain.info and only takes a minute to set up.

You can also start getting your Coinbase account set up and verified now because that will take a couple days.

You can watch the videos in this post to see an overview of how the process works. Just substitute Ignition for Bovada and Coinbase for Circle.

Anything to worry about ?
I requested a BTC payout at 4 am and they processed it 90 mins later (which isn't that uncommon , but still noticeable better than average).

While it showed up in my electrum wallet by the time I woke up, the transaction was still unconfirmed. But electrum will let you send this unconfirmed money along. So I sent it somewhere 6 hours ago and it still hasn't been confirmed (nor has the original payout from Ignition). No idea what is taking so long to confirm or why electrum acknowledges the transaction and lets me send, but still wont confirm.

As far as checks go, still a solid option, but not as many free checks and they take slightly longer to arrive than before BTC became an option.

Yes, you can spend that unconfirmed input but that transaction won't confirm until the first one does.

It's taking longer than normal because there are a large number of unconfirmed transactions.

Think of it as waiting on a platform for a train. On average one empty train arrives every 10 minutes. Each train can only fit a certain number of passengers... say 100.

During a busy time there might be 3k passengers waiting on the platform. When that happens passengers that paid a higher fee for their ticket will be given priority and are more likely to get on the next train.

Your wallet should be able to adjust the fee to attach based on how busy the network is... paying more when busier in order to get you included in the next block.

Unfortunately if your transaction was already made you just have to wait for the backlog to clear up.

Always appreciate know your knowledge of BTC. My Electrum wallet chooses the for me otherwise I'd be happy to be another buck or two if I wanted things done faster. But usually things are quite fast already. But at this point its been 23 hrs since the transaction was recognized as pending by Electrum. The only other thing to note that I can think of is that I have 41 inputs and 2 outputs, so I hope I didn't mess something up. But I just picked a random address supplied by electrum and had ignition send just the same routine Ive done previously. Any insight into the input/output thing and whether its an issue I've accidentally created? No rush to get the money, just some concern. Hoping to avoid dealing with a payout discrepancy on unregulated site equivalent to a bounced check.

The fee for the transaction from Ignition would have been set by them. I'm not sure what their process is and whether they're increasing fees as needed for the quickest confirmation.

Ideally they would be keeping an eye on the network to see how busy it is and making sure their fees are high enough. The increased amount that would be needed is really only pennies worth. They should even be willing to err on the side of overpaying a few cents in order to get your money to you as quick as possible.

Since I don't know whether they are or not I would personally hold off on requesting a withdrawal for the next 12 hours or so for anyone that is considering it and letting the network clear up the backlog of transactions.

As for the inputs and outputs, 41 inputs is kinda high but having multiple inputs and outputs is normal and not something you did. It just means they had to pull bitcoin from 41 different addresses to make your transaction.

The benefit with bitcoin vs. a bounced check is that anyone in the world will be able to verify whether your bitcoin arrives or not. If for some reason it didn't confirm there's no way for Ignition to claim that it did.

Yes I have one "unconfirmed" by my Electrum wallet from Ignition for almost 36 hours. Previous poster has been very helpful in explaining the why and how. Refer to his posts for more info, but nobody will have an estimate as to when it will arrive.

hi, just discovered that i've been moved from bovada to ignition. i made a bitcoin wallet at blockchain.info. so i have a wallet id and bitcoin address.

i want to withdraw some funds from bovada and deposit them to ignition.

do i need to go to coinbase (or some other) or can i just withdraw the bitcoin from bovada?

also, the bovada withdraw form wants a "wallet address". is that my wallet id or the bitcoin address that i got when i started to receive bitcoins at blockchain?

thanks

With Circle out of the picture, what's the best exchange to use and why? Ideally I'm looking for one with lowest fees and smoothest transactions.

Coinbase? Bitpay? Kraken?

You do not need to send to Coinbase or any other exchange in between. Just from Bovada to your wallet, and then from your wallet to Ignition.

Yeah, you want to give them the bitcoin address that it gives you when you click on "Receive" in your wallet.

Coinbase is the closest to Circle if you want money to your bank.

You can use their simple broker style option that works like Circe's did for a 1.49% fee.

But you can also use their full function bitcoin exchange called GDAX for only a 0.25% fee.

Either way you sell they'll ACH money to your bank for free in like 1-3 business days.

Having your withdrawal sent directly to the exchange isn't the cause of your delay this time... but the next time you withdraw you should have it sent to your own wallet first.

As for the delay I tried to explain it the best way I could in this post above: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...ostcount=25904

Unfortunately the only thing to do now is wait. I am confident that one way or another you will get your money.

I have a payout they attempted to send 46.5 hours ago and it still has zero confirmations, and I sent directly to my wallet. Sending to Coinbase is likely not the problem, as myself and others are experiencing long wait times for the network to come thru for us. Though, it is certainly not a good idea to send money from a gambling site to an exchange that, in theory, should not be accepting btc from a gambling site. They have shut down accounts in the past for this, not sure about confiscating funds. But I haven't heard that happen a lot and I'm pretty sure many people do not realize they need to have the wallet as a buffer between the gambling site and the exchange.

I called them and went over the issue and they provided an email address to send pics of my wallet and the data showing zero confirmations, as the rep said it must be escalated to the withdrawals dept, who can look at the data and figure it out.

Checks and wires are still fine options, though checks take slightly longer than before BTC was available, so I'm assuming they cut ties w some processors to save money for themselves, as many have gone the BTC route. But they still come within their stated timeframe so far.

ETF if I wake up tomorrow still isn't there, I'd be willing to send you seals chips or whatever if you could help me handle this. Ironically, 12 hours after I received the acknowledgement from electrum that a payout had been initiated, I sent $500 back to Ignition to play with (electrum allows you to send unconfirmed funds, which themselves cant be confirmed until the original is). Over the last 2 days I've run that $500 up to almost 11k and when I requested a payout the automated message said I couldn't even request it bc my $500 btc deposit to them had not yet been confirmed! WOW this is frustrating but bovada/ignition has never failed to pay anybody and I'm pretty confident this will be all set within the next day or two. ETF I got no problem overpaying you if you can get something done that I cant figure out wrt to the technical aspects of the transaction and what is the best solution going forward. My main concern is that they expect me to forfeit what I've won over the last two days because the $500 of their BTC that I sent back to them to play was never received by them.

Appreciate anyone's response, thx

I'm not sure if there's anything I'll be able to do, but if you PM me a link to the transaction I can check it out and see where your transaction is at in line compared to all the others that are unconfirmed.

So I cashed out $400 several days ago to blockchain. Sent it to bitpay and it would be just about 2 days exactly now since I tried to send to bitpay. Show'd as pending for a while on bitpay then disappeared. Also for those 2 days had 0 confirmations on blockchain (thought maybe my fee was too low from what I read, not super experienced with bitcoin).

I checked it about 5 hours ago and had no status change on blockchain, then just logged in and the transaction doesn't show up anymore on blockchain and it also doesn't show up that I received my $400 several days ago.

I'm an idiot and didn't screenshot anything because I figured eventually it would get through. Just wondering if anyone has any advice or has ever had anything like that happen and if I should just expect to be out $400. Not even sure who I would talk to about anything.

^^^

so I emailed blockchain and they basically told me the bitcoins couldnt just disappear but that they had no control over anything (which I knew).

I also had transactions reappear in my received and sent but in my received it currently says 0/3 confirmed. It also shows today's date and not the date from the other day.

So my question is, did I not have my funds from Ignition when I tried to transfer to bitpay? I assumed when I logged in and saw the money that everything was confirmed. I guess I'll see what happens later but if anyone could explain what possibly happened it would be greatly appreciated for future reference.

Edit: also when I log into blockchain it shows 0 for my balance, will it always say zero if an incoming transaction hasn't completely been confirmed or could it have been different the other day?
