I'm not sure, but I think his point was that you said you were very careful when it came to "revealing personal details online" and then you posted what you say is your real name online. [EDIT: TO FURTHER EXPLAIN: THAT MAKES YOU SEEM NOT SO CAREFUL ABOUT IT.]

I don't care. And I agree that there is extremely little risk in posting your real name here. But I think that was his point.

And as I said before, you can not lie about your identity to an institution that is going to be transferring money using your identity and think they will be fine with it if they find out you are not who you said you are. (at least not any institution that isn't breaking a ton of laws)

I accept if they screen me before i deposit, but why give nice promotions to attract me to deposit and fail my screening when i attempt to cash out? I got some winnings in there, if its illegal they can take it back i accept it as it is their site, but how is taking away my deposit as well fair? Its my money and they should return it and ask me to stay clear of their site, but why steal my deposit and ban me all together?
Generally poker sites don't ask for a lot of ID when players first sign on because it would be very difficult for them to build up any kind of player base if players had to jump through a lot of hoops to start playing. It's just a reality of the online poker business.

As intimidating as their statement that their decision is final is, that doesn't mean that they are actually finished with your case. Many other players have gotten similar notices only to later receive a notice that their funds will be returned to them. Most of the time if PokerStars doesn't have victims to distribute the money to, the original player does in fact end up receiving his money in full. So don't get too worried yet.

I also think that it's really important for you not to say that they are stealing from you etc. That will just make it that much harder for you to get the resolution that you want.

op wont give his real name over an encrypted server while signing up, but will fork this information over through an unsecure email with said company and then also willingly provide it in a public forum when asked to give details?

pay him his money

Well in legal terms, what OP did was fraudulently open an account.

And from their Terms of Service:
Quote:
  • 5.9FRAUDULENT BEHAVIOR. In the event that PokerStars deems that a User has engaged or attempted to engage in fraudulent, unlawful, dishonest or improper activity while using the Service, including without limitation, engaging in any of the activities set forth in this clause 5 or any other game manipulation, or the making of any fraudulent payment, including without limitation, use of a stolen credit card or fraudulent chargeback or money laundering, PokerStars shall be entitled to take such action as it sees fit, including, but not limited to:
    1. immediately blocking a User's access to the Service;
    2. terminating a User's account with PokerStars;
    3. seizing the funds within a User's account;
    4. disclosing such information (including the identity of the User) to financial institutions, relevant authorities and/or any person or entity that has the legal right to such information; and/or
    5. taking legal action against a User.

This, unsurprisingly, appears not to be the case.

...

We would like to remind you of the conditions you agreed to abide by when you registered your account. These can be located at:

http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/tos/

1.3. We reserve the right at any time to request from you evidence of age in order to ensure that minors are not using the Service. We further reserve the right to suspend or cancel your account and exclude you, temporarily or permanently, from using the Service if satisfactory proof of age is not provided or if we suspect that you are under age.
OK, so you created the account in a false name, and you are under age.

How did he get lucky? Saying someone should have their funds confiscated in this situation is hilariously wrong.

Fraudulently playing a site that tells you if you commit fraud they can seize your funds then complaining about having your funds seized.

Priceless.

What I find more disturbing is when Pokerstars says the decision is final and the players money is confiscated and then the player starts a thread and since he said the issue is resolved it's a near 99 percent chance he got his money back.

Maybe there's a reason OPs don't give a final update?

I expect he thought this meant that OP got his money back:

What does that have to do with this thread, where none of us have any idea what the whole story is, and don't even know what the resolution was?

Sometimes it's just better to imagine your own ending. I'm still haunted by the final episode of Seinfeld.
