Thanks.
I changed my preferred withdrawal currency from € to USD (live in Germany)
for a 500$ withdrawal and only got 336€(should have been ca. 363€).
I asked my bank and they said they only charge a couple of cents for conversion. Wrote to 888 support, but they didn't respond.
The bank statement said the rate was 1,377 and I think something about a 5€ fee.
So even if you apply this rate and deduct the fee they scammed me out of 22€.

So I guess no matter what you try they will scam you out of money.

Got a reply from Cassava:
Spoiler:

"Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and please allow us the opportunity to address your concerns.

The exchange rate you receive when you make a deposit/withdraw is one that is determined on a daily basis and is implemented into our systems. These exchange rates are comparable with the daily commercial rates offered by banks and credit card companies.

Please understand that we cannot provide the exchange rates for the next few days as these will change depending on market fluctuation. The rates we use for withdrawals are determined on the day the payment is processed.

In relation to your withdrawal request of 400 USD on the 19/1/2013 this was paid out on the 21/1/2013 as 282.61 EUR with an exchange rate of 1 EUR = 1.415378082870387 USD.

Please note that if you wish your bank to do the currency exchange rather than 888poker, all you need to do is to request all future withdrawals in USD.

Piteira, should you have any further questions on this issue please do not hesitate to contact us again.

I thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Kind Regards,
XYZ guy"

what a bunch of scammers, last time 1 EUR was more than 1.40 USD was in 2011, the dates they mention are wrong, this transactions were made this December.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Looking to play on 888poker because of the soft player population but I don't want to get raped on anyform of exchange.

I talked to their support chat and they said it's a company decision to no longer allow Skrill deposits.

Canadian player here.. Best options for deposit/withdrawl?

This site is a joke. Having to set up a separate currency bank/moneybookers just to not get screwed on cashing out your own money is ridiculous. I've done many cashouts using an exchange rate from Stars and I never had a problem. 888 on the other hand was a joke from the very first day I deposited there. Initially I was offered some kind of instant bonus for depositing. I deposited and of course got nothing. I contacted support and they basically told me "you already received the bonus". Obviously this wasn't true since my balance was still the same as I deposited. I told them this and all they said was "that is unfortunate sir". Then a few minutes later the support sent me another message saying "can I interest you in some other great bonuses if you make another deposit?". Yeah ****ing right.

I tried a few games and made a bit of profit then decided to get off that site. They ended up giving me some absurd exchange rate that wasn't even close to correct and I ended up losing a bit of money on the whole ordeal. I didn't even bother trying to argue with them since their support is a joke and the site seemed so shady to me I was glad I was able to cash out at all.

They must have carried that great support to New Jersey. I kept uploading documents trying to get verified and nothing. No email nothing. Tried again and nothing. Finally tried another document to get verified and I finally got verified. Very sad that WSOP had to use 888.

Today, I naively made my first deposit here with skrill without reading the currency exchange issues here first because I've never experienced charges like this before. My skrill's currency is USD. I deposited about $800 and was charged more than $55 from money being converted from usd->cad->usd. Is there any ways to get this charge back as there was clearly a mistake

Does this site still take peoples money away if they're dormant for long enough? I stopped playing on there once I found out about that.

I'm not saying they are or aren't, but are you sure?

If your PKR account is in dollars and you deposit with your £ skrill and let skrill do the exchange, you will lose ~2.5% which is standard robbery for them (skrill)

In 888's case, they rob you even when your 888 and e-wallet accounts are in same currency ($) because of their "settlement currency"

100% got an email from support they hold 2.9% for visa debit withdrawals although since they took more than 2.9% the rest must be bad xe rates.

yeah but it could be visa doing the exchange, not PKR, that what I was trying to say

also, if PKR says they are witholding 2.9%, i can't see it as a scam ?

visa takes 1-2% for currency exchange compared to xe.com rates afaik

888 claims there are no currency exchange fees when they do.

imo your case is completely different

Let's just bomb them on twitter or smth, already ranted 1-2 times on there. I really don't want to give up this site as software is pretty good and games are soft as fk, but I'm not gonna let them steal heaps of me just like that.

Will also e-mail them this thread-link altho hope that they do smth about it is pretty small. At least be honest about it, having worked in customer service myself before it just really boggles my mind how you could **** up such an "easy" task so badly - goes for pretty much every other site too obv (rain)

Hi Guys,

You can review the applicable currency exchange rate in the cashier by clicking ‘Exchange Rate’ underneath ‘Amount to Deposit’ at anytime. This is not a hidden rate as some of your posts have suggested. 888poker remains transparent in this manner and ensures that you are aware of the amount being debited from your account -see below for an example.

If you wish to change the regsitered currency of your 888poker account to US dollars, as this is the currency that 888poker operates in, then please send a request to the support team. After this is done, then all future deposit/cashout transactions will be at your bank's exchange rate.

and actual rates from any currency site:

1.00 USD = 0.733493 EUR
US Dollar ↔ Euro
1 USD = 0.733493 EUR 1 EUR = 1.36334 USD

your exchange rates aren't even close, last time EUR/USD was above 0.76 was like 3 months ago

UK based player. Regrettably for me I didn't see this thread before I made two deposits of $500 on this site last week. Received 1.58 on purchase and 1.715 on withdrawal. Only realised when I checked my bank Statements.

Apparently it's okay and all above aboard according to the support team as its clearly stated in paragraph 21 of their T&Cs. My bad, as I thought (not unreasonably in my view) I was signing up to play poker not trade in one sided onerous £:$ fx transactions.

How these jokers expect to build up a loyal customer base is beyond me. I can only assume they are hoping the majority are not intelligent enough to realise they are quietly thieving them blind for 7% rake on every deposit and withdrawal. Avoid this joke of a site.

Has anyone tried contacting their regulator to complain? I assume it is probably outside of their remit to act.

Hi,

I'm sorry my first post has to be on a negative note.

Has anyone who plays on 888 noticed that the rate charged for depositing exceeds that of withdrawing. Usually when I withdraw I check the rate for depositing so I withdraw a round number in GBP, I even usually add a bit in case the exchange adds a little more.

However I withdrew $800 last week which should have cashed into just over £500, based on the deposit exchange rate which is about .63. After the usual lengthy process, (where they leave the option to cancel your withdrawal for about a week,) £467 hits my account which is like .58!

I checked that the deposit amount remained the same each day as I already had suspicions about this.

I contacted customer support who conveniently don't deal with exchange rates but promised a call or e-mail back which never happened.

Think I'll be leaving which is a shame as I enjoy playing there

Also wtf is with no double rebuy or auto addon? Don't they realise this must be costing them thousands. For the amount they spend on advertising they really need to get their priorities right, starting with customer retention.

Mick.

I've just made a withdrawal $ to $ account and have been charged $6 for the privilege. They said I have to pay for bank charges, even though MY bank said they haven't charged me anything (it was a fee from their bank). Surely there must be some sort of regulation regarding this?

Hi guys, about to withdraw $1k from 888 (to a UK bank account), and just want to make sure that there aren't any ways to dodge getting ****ed by the currency conversion? Cheers

Spun it up to $1800, been trying non stop for the last couple of days to speak to 888 on the live chat on their client but it's been unavailable for the last 2 days, so I guess I just have to accept that they're going to steal £50-£60 off me.
