Totally agree, but unfortunately casinos are build on people with addiction issues.
Harrahs Nola is smoke free by city ordinance. They do have an outside area they call the pavillion or patio with a few slots, but it is outside and heated but no ac iirc. So it is not particularly comfortable on a July evening. I do believe the ordinance does cost harrahs some money. I know my slot degenerate and smoker wife, will now leave sooner and just head across the river to play and smoke at boomtown. Poker not as good at boomtown, but slots is slots pretty much.

Re: Coconut Creek, new room, NO Smoking.
Coconut Creek poker room has no smoking but people are smoking anywhere and everywhere around the poker room. As soon as you get off the elevator from the parking you get hit with cigarette smoke smell.

The actual smoke isnt being blown right into your face by the guy beside you but you cant play poker for more than an hour without your clothes and your hair smelling like smoke. I just cant play there even though I live very very close.

It's not hard, but people prefer to smoke while they gamble. And the casinos prefer for people to be allowed to smoke while playing slots because if somebody has to walk 5 minutes to the designated smoking area, spends 5 minutes there and then walks back, he can gamble only 45 out of 60 minutes each hour. That's a significant financial loss for the casino.

The business model is differently for poker tables, so the casinos have way more reasons to prohibit smoking in the poker rooms.

Would be awesome if at least one half of the casino would be totally smoke free, but I don't see that happening in the US in the near future. Smoking will be extinct in Australia by 2030 and Finland (and other Northern European countries?) plan to get there by 2040. Let's see how long it will take the other parts of the western world.

Well, in many countries in Europe, like in Austria and in Czech you can still smoke AT the table. And there will usually be at least one chain smoker at the table, sometimes more and these places often have no or terrible AC too. Huge -life EV even just second hand breathing in

In Florida, the vast majority of casinos are completely smoke-free. Only the few operated by the Seminole and Miccosukee Indian tribes allow smoking on the casino floor. I'm sure the same is true in many other states as well.

It is definitely not true in NJ and PA.

"The few" and "seminole" does not compute. You're talking two of the biggest / most recognizable / only casinos in Florida. And they have horrible smoking.

But they do actually separate the poker rooms so kudos on that

Also not true in most places I've played in the Midwest or South (Tunica, Biloxi, New Orleans, Lake Charles, KC, Northern Oklahoma, Chicago area).

Just come to Horseshoe Hammond on a Friday night! It's right outside of Chicago. Make sure that you sit at one of the tables by the podium/brush. This is where the casino floor ends (smoking allowed), and where the poker room begins (smoking not allowed).

We call 'em the emphysema tables, because you do nothing but breathe in copious amounts of second hand smoke.

Harrahs Nola has been no smoking inside for at least a couple of yrs. they do have two outside areas with slots you can smoke at. But def not close to the poker room.

Biloxi has one smoke free casino. But it has no poker room. Beau has smoking but poker is separate room so no smoke issues. Scarlet pearl not quite as good as beau but still sep. of course the poker at pearl sucks when they even do have cash action. Been too long since I was even in ip.

Lcharles is mixed. All three have floor smoking. At nugget this can be feet away with no separation. Lb smoking is close but glass walls. Isle has best separation but worst games
